School pupil 'health survey'

Does anyone have a link to the actual survey questions, I've just seen a couple of disturbing screen shots on Twitter and a daily mail article? There also appears to be a Perth council letter saying the data is linked to the pupil through their candidate number so can easily be traced back to them, however secure they say it is.

I've only seen excerpts on twitter too. You'd think such a thing would be openly googleable though unless they don't want people to see it?

I think Humza should complete and publish his own results, in fact the entire Scotgov ministerial team should do so. Completely anonymously right enough just put their initials on it so they don't get muddled up....

horseymum · 28/11/2021 08:05

I think I'm going to have to write to the school/ council for more information.

Despite being a teacher and delivering PHSE all I have heard about the survey is from social media. Have seen various screenshots on Twitter but in school I've heard nothing.

Mumzoo5070 · 28/11/2021 08:58

What sort of questions does it ask the children?

horseymum · 28/11/2021 09:38

Allegedly about the type/ frequency of sex from age 14. I really want some facts before I complain as I too have only seen social media posts. I do remember one being done before a few years ago. This sounds way worse if the rumours are true.

It seemed to be pictures of actual pages/questions on twitter but it doesn't seem possible to find the actual document.

Questions were basically about how many times you'd had sex or anal sex, how many partners (I think), how often you'd used condoms...

ElephantOfRisk · 28/11/2021 20:24

So, from reading that they can fairly easily identify the children by crosschecking their number against their candidate number but they probably wont do that very much....you can (on their behalf), or the child can opt out of the questionnaire but can you or the child see it before deciding? Is a copy made available prior to it being issued in schools? Do the younger children see the questions that the older children are being asked or are there different versions for each age level?

A desire to know the information for any particular reason, doesn't give anyone the right to ask and store this information, most especially in a way that anyone can then identify the pupil.

There you go. Problem solved.

That anyone can then identify the pupil? Really. What a ridiculous over reaction.
ElephantOfRisk · 28/11/2021 21:45

Ah dear, you are back. I've already said I don't want to engage with you so I'll leave you to it.

alicesfavouritepen · 28/11/2021 21:47

Well that's convenient. Grin

alicesfavouritepen · 28/11/2021 21:49

Also amusing that you felt compelled to announce your non engagement rather than just not engaging. Smile

If you look at the doc, this isn't true.
ElephantOfRisk · 28/11/2021 21:54

I just wanted to be clear, and no it's not particularly convenient for me but I have no wish to be reported and banned just because you don't like me and I don't like you. Now that I have been clear, I can continue to not engage with you in future without having to announce it.

WouldBeGood · 28/11/2021 22:02

This survey is a disgrace. Why the fuck would anyone of any age tell the government about their sex life and drug use? Creepy af.

It’s totally inappropriate. I saw that West Lothian council has told them to do one and I hope others follow.

Why on earth would you get reported and banned? Emmm okay. Confused

It's optional. It's a health and well-being survey.

Sexual activity and sexual health feeds into one's wellbeing.

Will we just kid on that young people aren't having sex and never mention it?

WouldBeGood · 28/11/2021 22:12

@alicesfavouritepen Would you mention your sex life st your work? Or to the government?

WouldBeGood · 28/11/2021 22:13

I have very open discussions with my DCs and have done since they were wee. I’m no prude. But this is no concern of the state.

Mara246 · 28/11/2021 22:17

That sort of information is none of the Scottish Government's business. I can imagine some of the boys in particular having a right laugh filling in such a survey.

alicesfavouritepen · 28/11/2021 22:21

Well the state can't win. There's a worsening mental health crisis, there's an ever increasing drug issue amongst young people and some of the sexual issues floating around schools would make your toes curl. You can't address a problem without attempting to ascertain a baseline of what's going on. 🤷🏻‍♀️

It's optional. There's a prefer not to say option for every question. People just love a bit of drama. A woman on that Twitter thread pleading to Boris Johnson to help protect her from the 'pedophile' SNP administration for example. I mean wtf.

canadagoose1 · 28/11/2021 22:24

This isn't new, I completed surveys on drug use at school in the 1980s. Government should be gathering data to inform appropriate health planning and education.

WouldBeGood · 28/11/2021 22:28

The SNP are quite creepy though, with the daddy bears and obsession with people’s sexuality. And inability to define sex.

Predicating health policy on the responses of children to a survey on sex snd drugs seems fundamentally flawed to me.
