SNP hates women

ASmallMovie · 01/02/2021 19:11

In the last 24 hours, Joanna Cherry has been sacked from the front-bench and measures have been introduced to make it impossible for Joan McAlpine to be re-elected. Both these women are feminists and vocal campaigners for the protection of the hard-won sex-based rights of women and children. Nothing they have said or written is transphobic.

Also, Humza Yousef has bowed to pressure and decided not to proceed with an amendment which would protect people who are fighting for girls and women's rights.

I have lost all respect for Nicola Sturgeon and the SNP. Was planning to vote for them in May, but now find that impossible.
This is a depressing, shameful state of affairs.

Kirsty Blackman is pretty strongly supportive of the trans movement - I'm pretty sure I've seen her attack Joanna Cherry on Twitter before, so I'd be hugely surprised if she wasn't aware of, and supportive of, this guy's views.

Explosivefarts · 25/10/2021 09:55

Awful what a time to be Scottish

KittenKong · 25/10/2021 09:56

It’s just embarrassing.

ShinyHappyPoster · 25/10/2021 10:05

I don't have any faith in the SNP to deal with it but I think that has shown a different approach we can use against abusive MPs and staff. We can circumvent their parties and report to Westminster or to the local council, etc.
The SNP has had ample opportunity to act on these abusive people (mainly men but some women too). They have ignored victims every time. Instead they have begged the bullies to stay. As has Labour with their high profile misogynistic bullying members and representatives.

Selkiesarereal · 26/10/2021 08:03

If I understand correctly from the link above, he’s not going to be charged by the Met however Marion Miller is still awaiting he case being taken to court for posting a ribbon in the suffragette colours which allegedly looked like a noose.

I think I would rather be threatened by a ribbon than a gun.

mibbelucieachwell · 26/10/2021 12:13

Wow. I know about Marion Miller's case and her suffragette ribbon tweet, but I didn't know it was supposed to suggest a noose!

The photo. Is that the guy who originally tweeted the threatening picture or the snp researcher who retweeted it?

Was it Kirsty Blackman who tweeted that nursery graduations " can get in the bin"? btw.

How is SG going to climb down off their 'progressive' oneupmanship horse when Stonewall and its unquestioning acceptance by SG have finally been discredited? The Nolan podcasts researching this have reached a huge audience apparently which is very encouraging, but it's hard for public figures, especially politicians, to admit they've got things wrong.

At least it gives me hope that this reduce the SNP's popularity.

Rhannion · 27/10/2021 02:17

If Marion’s ribbons looked like a noose then so does the SNP symbol. It’s a lot of ridiculous nonsense and I think the police know that they really have no case for Marion to answer. We will know more next week.

Kirsty Blackman is full on TWAW and she went to school with Johnny Kiehlmann - they’re apparently v close
Selkiesarereal · 27/10/2021 20:37

I really hope it goes well next week as this whole case over scary ribbons is just nonsense, but we live in strange times.

Hoolieannabanana · 27/10/2021 21:23

Me too. Sometimes I think the tide is turning but then some new awfulness emerges

We certainly do especially as the police dumped new charges on Marion and her legal representation 10 mins before she went in to court the last time!
ChocolateDeficitDisorder · 30/10/2021 16:03

After the way the EU has been acting why would you ever admit you wanted to be in a relationship with them.

They're following the terms of the deal that was passed through parliament and signed.

After the way the UKgov has been acting, why would anyone ever admit they wanted to remain in a relationship with them.

ChocolateDeficitDisorder · 30/10/2021 16:05

Independence and women's rights are separate issues. We can't deal properly with one until we have dealt with the other.

Punish the SNP in an independent Scotland if you choose to. We can vote for whichever government we want, and this time it won't have one hand tied behind its back.

Rhannion · 30/10/2021 16:18

Women’s rights are far more important than independence imho

Rhannion · 30/10/2021 16:22

The SNP have done enough damage to women in Scotland without independence, do you honestly think anyone who cares about women, girls and children in Scotland would vote for such a parcel o’ rogues as Burns put it, especially now they are in bed with the misogynist Greens?

Rhannion · 30/10/2021 16:25

I , and many other people will never vote for the SNP / Greens or any other party who does not protect the rights of women and children to privacy, dignity and safety. Our rights must come first. Scotland doesn’t deserve independence if it cannot safeguard the women who live here. We won’t be bought and sold for Stonewall gold points.

MaxNormal · 30/10/2021 18:08

The thought of what woman's rights would look like in an independent, SNP-governed Scotland is frankly terrifying.
For all the Tories' faults, they for the most part know what a woman is.

If you are in Scotland there are lots of GC women’s groups you could join and you would be made very welcome. We are all from different political viewpoints but all have a common goal to preserve and protect the rights of women, girls and children in Scotland.
MaxNormal · 30/10/2021 21:48

@Rhannion thank you, I would love to join and meet a group of like minded women. Really not fussed about what other political viewpoints are held as my own politics has gone very confused after the last wee while.

NiceGerbil · 30/10/2021 22:31

I read the piece although eyesight not great! So maybe missed something.

I think it says that this bloke retweeted something by a USA person saying antifa should be at terf events.

And the tweet with the gun was another thing on the USA person Twitter.

Is that right?

If so I think showing the gun tweet etc even though he didn't retweet it is pretty misleading personally.

I'm confused.

GCNC · 30/10/2021 22:32

@Rhannion. ‘If you are in Scotland there are lots of GC women’s groups you could join and you would be made very welcome. We are all from different political viewpoints but all have a common goal to preserve and protect the rights of women, girls and children in Scotland’.

I’d love to meet other folks who share my views locally- all the groups I follow seem based down south. Do you know of any based Glasgow or west coast ish? Even if you send me a PM (if you don’t mind/have time).

NiceGerbil · 31/10/2021 01:39

Ah that's not what I read at all.
