SNP hates women

ASmallMovie · 01/02/2021 19:11

In the last 24 hours, Joanna Cherry has been sacked from the front-bench and measures have been introduced to make it impossible for Joan McAlpine to be re-elected. Both these women are feminists and vocal campaigners for the protection of the hard-won sex-based rights of women and children. Nothing they have said or written is transphobic.

Also, Humza Yousef has bowed to pressure and decided not to proceed with an amendment which would protect people who are fighting for girls and women's rights.

I have lost all respect for Nicola Sturgeon and the SNP. Was planning to vote for them in May, but now find that impossible.
This is a depressing, shameful state of affairs.

Agreed, I was a firm SNO supporter until recently. Confidence has been massively knocked with them now though and it leaves me in the same position of not knowing who I should vote for now. I don’t have a clue about the Scottish Labour Party and I’m not a Tory at all. Might become the first time in my voting life that I abstain

BigBadVoodooMummy · 08/02/2021 01:21

The active witch hunting has been obscene. If any of you didn't see Joanna Cherry confronting social media executives on the subject of social media witch hunting then seek it out - a lesson in how women should lead.

Nicola Sturgeon is not just refusing to speak out against violence towards women, she is now actively courting it. Any respect I had remaining is gone - I see a petty power play to clear out the competition before election day and it sickens me. This is not a leader acting in the best interests of the country.

The damage being done to free speech, to women's rights and to children being force fed pseudo science whilst safe-guarding is revoked has undone decades of good work and will be seen as scandalous when society looks back.

Sorry MP for one of the Aberdeen seats.

The proposed hate crime bill to me demonstrates the SNP do hate women. Biological sex is the one category not defined in the bill, and if they have their way, we won't be able to talk about trans women being biologically male - an absolutely incontestable scientific fact - without being at risk of arrest.

Yes frightening stuff in a democracy.
ShakeaHettyFeather · 23/02/2021 16:49

The democratic majority realise that sex and gender are more complicated than male vs female, though.

BlackForestCake · 23/02/2021 18:59

No they don't. If you told the average person they could be expelled from the SNP for saying women don't have cocks, they would think you were bonkers.

Sex is not complicated at all.

Even my DH (who is not that interested in the whole trans 'debate') raised an eyebrow when I told him that the SNP were now defining saying 'Transwomen are biological men' as transphobic, and therefore a hate crime if/when they force their hate crime bill through. I think in his mind it's all about protection from the big things (sacked from jobs, being spat at in the street etc.) and he hasn't really appreciated the wider implications or just how extreme some transactivists are. Now, like most sensible people I expect, he's a bit incredulous and wondering if Drs and teachers are going to be convicted of hate crimes for teaching basic biology...

BlackForestCake · 23/02/2021 21:45

It is not good to put teachers in a position where, if students ask, they have to tell the kids that the position of the ruling party is batshit. Even if they can do it without sanction.

buckerrucker · 24/02/2021 17:13

Has everyone written to their SMPs about their concern? You can write to all 8 of them with one email - see www.writetothem.com/

buckerrucker · 24/02/2021 17:14

Sorry msp

GreenlandTheMovie · 02/03/2021 09:52

It's going to make the teaching of Human Biology almost impossible in Scotland, or at least large chunks of the curriculum are going to have to be missed out.

I remener doing it at Higher and being taught how biological males have slightly compromised immune systems due to the development of the Y chromosomes - they lose genetic material to make way for the Y sex chromosome. This of one of the factors that leads to men living less long than women.

Can you imagine trying to phrase that without risking arrest? Or the questions that might resort from a group of rowdy, mocking teenagers?

Cuesday · 03/03/2021 16:28

3 of my 8 MSPs have responded to me about my concerns about the Hate Crime Bill. This is from one of them, about all parties apart from the conservatives (who I am not generally a fan of) voting against amending the Hate Crime Bill:
"However, the SNP’s proposed offences of ‘stirring up hatred’ threaten freedom of speech, and fail the simple tests of being clear, certain and capable of enforcement. There was an unprecedented response to the Justice Committee’s call for views on the Hate Crime Bill and most of those published so far raise grave concerns about this area. The Scottish Police Federation stated the bill could ‘devastate’ the relationship between the police and the public. The Scottish Newspaper Society said it ‘poses a serious threat to freedom of expression’ and the Faculty of Advocates warned that the Bill’s flaws mean there is ‘no alternative but to reconsider the draft bill.’ "

Ifyourefeelingsinister · 03/03/2021 17:23

Interesting cuesday. Must get round to writing to my MSPs.

Someone like that who posts hate messages should have no place in any mainstream political organisation as their views are quite abhorrent especially in the aftermath of the murder of David Amiss.

Any decent person would want to quickly distance themselves from such a person.

MaxNormal · 24/10/2021 20:37

FindTheTruth that's some serious Charles Manson energy that guy's got going on.

SayYouDontMind · 24/10/2021 23:14

What an awful individual. How on earth can his colleagues not have known his views. Kirsty Blackman surely can’t have been ignorant of his views? Comments and actions like that don’t spring out of nowhere. Come on SNP, we need to see some robust condemnation of such violent, threatening behaviour. Have the SNP issued any statements condemning his behaviour?

The frightening thing is that the SNP did know. the WM Parliamentary authorities suspended him. But the SNP has allowed this behaviour towards women for 3 years. Women have been chased off social media by him. I agree we need robust condemnation and statements. I doubt we'll see one or if we do it will be a 'both sides' piece of waffle.
