Does it matter if Sturgeon is guilty - do you know or care?

Evidence of a conspiracy to frame Alex Salmond has been building. There are compelling reports in the Times, Herald , Sky News and across the internet. But there is less reporting in Scotland and a lot of people seem to not know or care. I'm Scottish but I don't live there. I've been hooked by this as a story of power and corruption. I'm on the fence re independence, just don't know enough so don't have an axe in that debate. I've never been an SNP member. But I do care about justice and that no-one should be above the law, especially politicians when they are seeking to imprison their potential rivals.

After reading this affadavit from Craig Murray which brings it all together and is incendiary I'm pretty convinced there has been a conspiracy and that Sturgeon and her collaborators should face justice. Although the justice department (Crown office) also seem to be mired in this. Here is the affadavit www.craigmurray.org.uk/archives/2021/01/my-sworn-evidence-on-the-sturgeon-affair/

I've shown this to a few people and have been shocked that a couple have said, yes it stinks but I like Sturgeon. I'd be interested in the views of Scotsnet. How much do you know about this? Do you care? Is it OK for our politicians to imprison their rivals, like Putin and co do, if you like their other objectives. Has Scotland become a corrupt nation? Is that OK?

Why are the crown office doing this ?

littlbrowndog · 23/02/2021 12:33

Omg

Elvesaremagic · 23/02/2021 12:34

Crown office is controlled by the cabinet. Just so corrupt!

littlbrowndog · 23/02/2021 12:37

Let’s forget

Does it matter if Sturgeon is guilty - do you know or care?
StatisticallyChallenged · 23/02/2021 12:38

@Elvesaremagic

Because if they redact it Alex Salmond can’t refer to any of the matters that his evidence details tomorrow.
Ding ding ding we have a winner 🏆

Yup, if it's redacted he can't refer to it. But I reckon a lot of copies have been downloaded already. Including me. So if they redact women's names they might as well put a flag up saying these people are accusers, and if they redact anything else it will be immediately obvious and questioned.

Not sure what the game is here. He did not name any of the complainants in any context which identified them as being so.

"So if they redact women's names they might as well put a flag up saying these people are accusers, and if they redact anything else it will be immediately obvious and questioned."

That's a great point @StatisticallyChallenged, any further redactions will actually flag who the women are whereas currently it's not clear. This makes it even more non-sensical. They really don't want him telling his side of it do they?

StatisticallyChallenged · 23/02/2021 12:51

Nope, they really really don't.

If they had actually just published his initial statement and let him give evidence, then Sturgeon had given her evidence and contradicted him this may well have just died off. He'd have been an angry man spouting half baked conspiracies. The constant blocking of it is giving it credence. They are making it more believable every time they try to suppress it.

littlbrowndog · 23/02/2021 13:14

Trolling Scotland so they are

Graffitiqueen · 23/02/2021 13:17

This is an absolute farce. They are totally corrupt.

user1487194234 · 23/02/2021 13:24

I was sceptical of the conspiracy theory, but themore they try to shut him down the more I wonder

Bejazzled · 23/02/2021 13:31

I care very much. It goes to the integrity of our very government. This latest Wings article is utterly damning of Sturgeon and her husband’s methods.

Wings

Bejazzled · 23/02/2021 13:33

P.s. And believe me, I’m the last person on Earth to agree with Salmond’s politics, this goes deeper.

StatisticallyChallenged · 23/02/2021 13:44

They have taken their purple pen to his submission on the ministerial code, removing the paragraphs regarding the meetings on the 29th March and 2nd April in their entirety

Nope, nothing to see here then.

Bejazzled · 23/02/2021 13:56

So paragraphs which in no way identified anyone (I read them) have been removed.

Unbelievably corrupt

Or maybe not so unbelievable...

justasking111 · 23/02/2021 13:57

I put this thread up elsewhere because OH said I was stupid and knew nothing.

Is there a problem ?🤦‍♀️

StatisticallyChallenged · 23/02/2021 14:38

Letter from Salmond's lawyers to the committee regarding redactions

wingsoverscotland.com/to-the-parliament-clerks/#more-126740

Selkiesarereal · 23/02/2021 15:33

And if I understand correctly, the committee also won’t be able to refer to it even though it’s highly likely that they will also have read it. If it wasn’t a farce already, it most certainly is one now.

StatisticallyChallenged · 23/02/2021 16:07

He may well refuse to appear now, because they're effectively claiming that to refer to these passages would be contempt of court but if he doesn't there's a big hole in the timeline.

GoLightlyontheEarth · 23/02/2021 16:14

I was speaking to a friend about this today. She likes NS and doesn’t know or care about this case. She’s says there is no alternative politically anyway.
My brother in law has been following it in detail
And is convinced she is corrupt and has to go.
I haven’t been following it up till now as I assumed Salmond was guilty. I don’t like SNP politics at all but what other options are there? Labour and the Tories don’t have a chance here.

justasking111 · 23/02/2021 16:20

The redacted bits still exist........

I don’t like SNP politics at all but what other options are there? Labour and the Tories don’t have a chance here.

Scottish Parliament elections are usually only about 50% turn out. They win most seats with way less than 50% of turnout (the Indyref turnout was above 80%). The SNP are already a Minority Administration.

It doesn't take many SNP supporters to stay home or disgruntled ex-Labour voters to turn out to make a difference. Even the odd bit of tactical nose holding swings certain areas.

Tempted to say we should all vote SNP to make sure they own the Mess because if they lose control they will swiftly wash their hands of it and blame whatever coalition gets left holding the pile of excrement in their wake. Then whoever replaces the Murrels (Angus Robertson) will Cry Indy to rally the troops with a clean slate.

StatisticallyChallenged · 23/02/2021 16:48

Then whoever replaces the Murrels (Angus Robertson) will Cry Indy to rally the troops with a clean slate

Don't think his slate is very clean.

My constituency has a labour MSP who is standing down - they were 3% ahead of SNP last time so that seems the sensible place for my vote unless anything changes.

Graffitiqueen · 23/02/2021 17:12

It's outrageous that the redactions seem to be nothing to do with protecting the identity of the complainants. It seems more to do with protecting NS. Who is going to hold them to account for any of this? Can the UK government do anything?
