@ikswobel, still don't follow. We access glow from different devices and the passwords are saved on Chrome. We don't have any issues with that.

Bikingbear · 03/01/2021 18:46

@runningpink

The schools round here every child from primary 4 up to sixth year at high school all have iPads now!
Can I ask which council?

This does my head in someone else on here was going on about their area giving all kids laptops, but wouldn't say where.

randomsabreuse · 03/01/2021 18:47

@RaspberryCoulis

To be fair there are loads of walks in East Dunbartonshire that aren't Mugdock Park/Reservoirs, just not as obvious! Campsies are only busy in the obvious bits, Lennoxtown and Milton of Campsie haven't been rammed either so I'm not convinced it's a natural consequence of being restricted to East Dunbartonshire.

We've been taking advantage of the stay within 5 miles of your county so just into Stirlingshire/ North Lanarkshire for walks.

Wannabewriter · 03/01/2021 18:47

That happens in a lot of schools in Glasgow does it not? The ipads.

ikswobel · 03/01/2021 18:47

@Arkadia if you have different devices that's no problem. It's if you have one laptop and two or three dc sharing it, that can be a problem.
But if you don't save passwords it's ok.

@nextslideplease

I've been asked to create some online learning resources for my university although I'm not a lecturer (professional services). I have no idea where to even begin. I don't think Zoom learning is enough, I need to think about what else I can do to deliver webinars and learning. Covering topics such as how to look after your mental health. Is there anything other than Zoom? It will be for university students. Its just in case the SG guidance changes and we are all still at home.
I'm a uni student and everything is either on Zoom or prerecorded videos. I think engagement is a huge issue for students at this point, a lot of us are now just doing the minimum to get through. Sorry that's not very helpful.
ssd · 03/01/2021 18:50

I sort of, loosely mind, sort of support what the SG have done so far but I think they need to start prioritising people's mental health too now.
They need to get gyms open, keep places of worship open as well as playgrounds and outdoor sports for kids.

WouldBeGood · 03/01/2021 18:50

@MamaTookMyEyebrows I really think they should vaccinate high risk groups first.

But they need to get on with it!

MamaTookMyEyebrows · 03/01/2021 18:51

Just vaccinate someone! Anyone! Grin

I might be mad, but I have a glimmer of hope following Swinney's latest tweet about considering latest advice relating to schools and early learning. I fully expect stricter lockdown as infections are a bit out of control despite already really tough restrictions (15% positive today), but the evidence on early learning really only goes one way. I haven't seen any evidence of either severe disease or disease spreading potential in preschool children, and I hope they will finally start to stratify advice regarding children by age.

applesandpears33 · 03/01/2021 18:57

Also in Edinburgh but I think that what was being proposed in June differed slightly between schools. Our local High School head teacher told parents that unless your kid was in S4 they would only be at school one day a week, with an additional day every four weeks (S4 received an additional day every second week). As a parent, I felt this was pretty poor when other LAs were offering a 50% model. It seemed that our kids were caught up in an argument about funding between the LA and Scot Gov. I wouldn't oppose blended learning if all areas were offering the same amount of teaching, but what was proposed in our local area was woeful.

Arkadia · 03/01/2021 18:58

@ikswobel, but we interchange devices and users without issue, and Chrome remembers all the passwords al the time.

Invisimamma · 03/01/2021 18:58

I have the same issue with glow login, we have one laptop which is linked to my work MS365 account, so logging into glow is a real pain in the arse because it doesn't recognise the different MS lisence or something like that. I can't find a way round it.
It's left the dc working from my mobile phone to access Teams and Glow.

runningpink · 03/01/2021 19:01

@Bikingbear
Of course it’s Scottish Borders council.

nextslideplease · 03/01/2021 19:01

thanks everyone

ICouldHaveCheckedFirst · 03/01/2021 19:02

@Iwillneverbesatisfied : shielding since March must be grim, my heart goes out to you. But if you are younger than me, then I'd like you to get the vaccine ahead of me. Sorry if that wasn't clear.

DH and I are in our 60s, our DCs are in their 20s. I'd rather they could be vaccinated and go back to work.

WouldBeGood · 03/01/2021 19:05

But the elderly and vulnerable,and their carers and NHS staff, need vaccinated first; that will take the pressure off the NHS and it doesn’t then matter if other people get it’s

Bikingbear · 03/01/2021 19:06

Any one else do it as child logs in to laptop as themselves, then have a link directly into Google Classroom?

Iwillneverbesatisfied · 03/01/2021 19:06

thank you @ICouldHaveCheckedFirst I think the government is actually going about it the right way. I just don't like people saying "us first" and just keep everyone else indoors.

ikswobel · 03/01/2021 19:07

@Invisimamma feel your pain.

Coquohvan · 03/01/2021 19:09

@WouldBeGood

What we reckon on gyms opening?
I’m missing my gym too. Our DD & hubby own a gym and honestly it’s been opened 8wks till November break, then open for a couple till Christmas Eve. The grants are slow to be passed her landlord wants the full rent. Thankfully we’re in a position financially to help them out, so sad for others struggling. The only thing I can think off that SG can do, is not opening schools till after February break, hoping her super duper vaccination programme 😀will save us.
ssd · 03/01/2021 19:29

Its awful gyms have hardly opened, they are so important for mental health too.

Coquohvan · 03/01/2021 19:33

Absolutely they are @ssd even the short time opened, indoor classes weren’t allowed. Loved my classes great laugh and exercise together.

rookiemere · 03/01/2021 19:37

For those asking about vaccination numbers Travelling Tabby reports this on www.travellingtabby.com . Apparently 92k vaccinated (or first injection) so far. I bloody love that site.

ssd · 03/01/2021 19:38

I must admit, I have no experience of inside a gym, which youd know if you seen me Grin

But I know my boys are finding it harder without the gym open
