What are your thoughts on what was spoken about albeit briefly on Friday about possibly closing schools on the 18th and returning on the 11th?
They said it's going to be discussed further this week.
I wonder if they go ahead it will be complete closure or blended learning for the extra days 🤔

Looks like I was wrong thinking they'd close the schools early or go to online learning.

WouldBeGood · 08/12/2020 21:36

I think they should now they’ve cancelled the exams. The 22md is late to be in

Bikingbear · 09/12/2020 00:51

England have said their schools can close a day early so 17th. Nippy will be tying herself up in knots trying to go one better. Bearings in mind many Scottish schools are open until 22/23rd

Lidlfix · 09/12/2020 06:17

Since schools are the safest place and children will meet up anyway all schools should now be full day on the last day which is now to be the 24th? Wink

Outsidemum1 · 09/12/2020 07:25

I can see it from both points of view. I didn't realise the eis are going for the 18th.

Outsidemum1 · 09/12/2020 08:46

Sorry that was wrong- remote learning 11th to 18th .

Mistressiggi · 09/12/2020 10:32

And then back in for the 21st and 22nd? I think something has got mixed up in that!

Lidlfix · 09/12/2020 10:38

And 23rd for some of us.

Mistressiggi · 09/12/2020 10:47

Sorry! I keep forgetting that as it sounds so unbelievable..

Outsidemum1 · 09/12/2020 11:43

Sorry talking rubbish I got mixed up.

weebarra · 09/12/2020 11:46

DS1 (S2) was muttering yesterday about finishing early. He knew about the decision for it to be 22nd (invested in it as his bday is 23rd!) but said he thought it was changing.

Friendshighschool · 09/12/2020 18:48

There doesn’t seem to be any change here in Perthshire. We close on 23rd at 12 noon.

IncludeWomenInTheSequel · 09/12/2020 19:02

I think I'm going to keep mine home from Friday the18th. That way we'll get six days before we mix with anyone.

Possums4evr · 09/12/2020 19:30

If you think the schools should be closed from the 18th then please write to your local councillors to ask them to do this.

icanboogieboogiewoogie · 09/12/2020 21:32

There are a lot of kids for whom Christmas is going to be cramped, fraught, abusive, hell. I'm happy to sit this one out to keep them in school a bit longer.

Possums4evr · 09/12/2020 22:28

That's a great idea, keyworker and vulnerable pupil places for the last couple of days, like we had during lockdown.

Possums4evr · 09/12/2020 22:29

No need for every child and every staff member to be in though.

Trichford · 10/12/2020 13:18

@IncludeWomenInTheSequel I'm thinking the same. I can't see any councils changing it at this stage now. Also been no more talk from Scottish government on it either 🤷🏼‍♀️

Wales have just said they are closing / going online from Friday, but doesn't inc primaries or special schools. Basically the High School are closing.

Redglitter · 12/12/2020 01:33

My nieces school in N Ayrshire closed today until Jan 6th

WeAllHaveWings · 12/12/2020 13:50

I saw that one academy in n/ayrshire had moved to remote learning from Monday until the 23rd due to multiple outbreaks.

Makes sense if they are seeing an increase in cases.

Redglitter · 12/12/2020 15:01

Thats the one my niece is at there are so many of them self isolating there was really no alternative.
