Hospitality restrictions extended today and a 5 tier system?

Why not just have the same as England? Why is she insisting on harsher lockdowns then blaming Westminster for no funding.

Edinburgh and Glasgow will be like ghost towns soon. I’m sure more than 50% of bars and restaurants won’t re-open.

Are you all following the restrictions ( question for the central belters) ?

Maybe I missed a comma? I was talking about one poster who is snp or should that be an snp supporter?

ssd · 22/10/2020 14:27

I'm in Glasgow, it is a ghost town, especially after 6pm.
Were following the rules, but we always did. Dh still bloody got it from his one day in a pub since March...
Anyway, even though mine have now left, to me keeping school's open is the priority, before anything else.

ssd · 22/10/2020 14:29

And christ, but no I don't want to follow England's lead. Do some of you not watch the telly?!?! . It's a shit show down there. Why the hell would we want to follow that?

MissEliza · 22/10/2020 17:35

It's a shit show down here? The infection rates where I live are a quarter of where my family is from in the Glasgow area. From what I can see on my hometown's Facebook group, many people are certainly not following the rules and people are getting frustrated. There's lots of reports of large house parties. I was considering taking my dd up for half term but there's no way I'd go from an area of low infection to a region with such high case rates. I'm worried about my df too.
My colleague's daughter returned to her studies in Edinburgh in September and was really shocked at how people were ignoring social distancing etc compared to what she'd got used to over the summer at her DM's house in southern England. She wants to come home because she feels so uncomfortable. There's a real delusion in Scotland about how much better they're doing.

WaxOnFeckOff · 22/10/2020 19:44

Yes, currently in the Lake District and no shit show. Very similar low levels to home in my part of Forth Valley but have been able to eat out with a drink, everyone friendly, no shit show in sight.

That's money that could be spent in Scotland but Nicola says no, so here we are.

grumplass · 22/10/2020 20:34

@MissEliza YOU DON'T EVEN LIVE IN SCOTLAND !!!!!
Words actually fail me.
How dare you post some speculation based on "Facebook from your home town" and dress it all up in hatred of NS.

@WaxOnFeckOff I know you live in Scotland and have had a holiday booked for ages, sure you will be enjoying it as you are allowed to.
If you'd come to the Highlands you could have had a lovely meal indoors with no drink or eat outdoors with something alcoholic.
But I'm glad you've enjoyed yourself it's going to be a long winter.

Torvean32 · 22/10/2020 20:35

I lost all respect for NS after she locked Aberdeen down at 73 cases but sat and watched cases rise in Glasgow while doing nothing.

Bigger joke is the inability to get flights from Aberdeen due to Covid, they want you to go to Edinburgh.

MissEliza · 22/10/2020 20:51

@grumplass is that the best you've got? GrinGrinGrinYou don't even live in England but you're very opinionated about the situation here.

MissEliza · 22/10/2020 20:55

Oh and I don't 'hate' anyone. I do care about the damage being wrecked on people's lives and our country by divisive policies, discourse and ideas. I do hate prejudice and I know how prejudiced some Scottish people are capable of being against English people. Sadly, this crisis is being used to stoke those feelings.

WaxOnFeckOff · 22/10/2020 20:59

Yes I could have come North but I'm glad we've come back to the lakes. We were due to come at Easter. I do love the Highlands and I love Scotland but in all honesty, I think I love the lakes more. In general the quality of hospitality in the rural areas is better and cheaper on average. I find sometimes you struggle to find good quality food in lots of places when there isn't much choice.

I think our expectations are quite high though. Brought up poverty but with family that went into catering, I got very used to eating well so we priotise good food. I don't like paying to eat out when I could make better myself. 😊

grumplass · 22/10/2020 21:12

@WaxOnFeckOff I love the lakes too and they are so set up for tourists- lots to learn from. @MissEliza I have nothing to say at all about English people.
BUT people that live in England shouldn't be posting critical political comments about Nicola Sturgeon any more than I should get in an argument about Emmanuel Macron. You don't vote in Scotland so why should what we choose be an issue for you?

SBTLove · 22/10/2020 21:13

@MissEliza
our country???
Scotland is a devolved nation with its own identity, the U.K. is not one big country.
Keep your opinions to yourself in YOUR country, absolute joke 🤣🤣

SBTLove · 22/10/2020 21:16

@WaxOnFeckOff
Are you Scottish? if so it’s a shame you’re so critical of our hospitality industry especially when we should be supporting it. Scotland has some of the finest produce in the world, god knows where you’ve been going.
The Lakes are over touristy, very noice MNish though.

CraftyGin · 22/10/2020 21:18

I was at my father’s funeral two weeks ago. No social distancing on the flight from Heathrow. Decent SD in the restaurant near DD’s flat. Completely packed/heaving bus from Bruntsfield to the crematorium at Mortonhall.

Rubbish funeral with just 15 of us and no wake. Then straight back to the airport.

Can’t really say how NS is navigating a narrow path.

MissEliza · 22/10/2020 21:20

My family are affected by decisions made by the Scottish government. Right now, I'm very stressed that they may introduce travel restrictions that would prevent us from seeing my df. I'll never forget, in April, seeing a spokesperson from Police Scotland on Sky News saying they would stop cars coming across the border. An empty threat, perhaps, it made me so worried that if we felt we needed to see my df, we could be turned back.
Other than that, you're welcome to the shit show that the SNP has turned Scotland into.

grumplass · 22/10/2020 21:23

Sorry to hear that @CraftyGin.
If you look at all the Coronavirus posts on here and mumsnet generally it's clear the whole uk is full of people who just don't believe in compliance.
NS is continually asking people to follow rules but they aren't.
And they aren't in other places if the "I'm calling it- people aren't complying " threads are anything to go by

grumplass · 22/10/2020 21:25

@MissEliza
It is worrying and tough and I haven't been able to see my parents since the latest restrictions.
Wales, Ireland and tier 3 areas are In similar restrictions.

You really are very unpleasant and rude.

SBTLove · 22/10/2020 21:28

@MissEliza
You’re quite a drama llama aren’t you? Start of April was lockdown, you shouldn’t have been visiting anyway!
Yes, she asks ppl, do you suggest we become a police state?

SBTLove · 22/10/2020 21:31

@RaspberryCoulis
Another persons opinion that I couldn’t give a hoot about 🤣

Scotslassie1 · 22/10/2020 21:32

MissEliza everyone's stressed re potential travel restrictions. I get your worried but everyone has the potential to be restricted and unable to see family.

Clearly another person who can’t understand not everyone agree with her so starts insulting and swearing.
I think saying we should be supporting our hospitality industry is appropriate, I never said anything about disliking anything English, that’s your take.

SBTLove · 22/10/2020 21:41

To add idiotic you’re the one swearing and name calling, ruffian 🤣

RaspberryCoulis · 22/10/2020 21:41

I was referring to you calling a poster an "absolute joke". Nice.
