Just getting started on this year's thread.

Only got Ds sitting 5 exams this year in S5. 🤞🏻 but Dd will be home most of the time as she's on placement.

Dd has left for chemistry, she's not in a good frame of mind, I hope she can stay calm enough to let all her hard work see her through. Thank God it's the last one! Good luck all

WickedGoodDoge · 10/05/2019 09:19

DS will be glad when Chemistry is over. In hindsight, he possibly should have taken Physics instead.

ClerkMaxwell · 10/05/2019 10:55

Another H chemistry hater in our house too but has left in a better mood than her maths exam. Just history to go on Monday.

Alittewornout · 10/05/2019 11:35

Anybody else brace themselves for pick up/ return home after an exam!?😂 I find myself trying to gauge her mood by the walk across the car park and adjust my facial expression accordingly. ( and hope it’s the right one!!)x

WickedGoodDoge · 10/05/2019 11:46

Fortunately DS needs to let me know if he’s hanging about school and getting the bus home or if he’s getting the train so he messages me and also lets me know how the exam went. He can take hours to do so though- he doesn’t seem to realise I’m waiting to hear! Grin Grin Grin

Alittewornout · 10/05/2019 11:51

I can relate to that also wicked on work days. I waited anxiously on Wed for news on on English til I couldn’t stand it and gave in and sent a text. Then proceeded to wait ages on a response. Keeping my fingers crossed for them all today.x

Groovee · 10/05/2019 12:21

Ds said it went ok. He wrote something for every question.

Physics next. That seems to be his forte.

Dd walks home; we're in a small town so should take 10 min but she might go via the high street, the supermarket, a friend's house... I think can take hours!

emummy · 10/05/2019 12:40

Sorry, it can take hours, not I think!

Alittewornout · 10/05/2019 12:43

Text from DD says better than she expected. Felt it was a good paper may have mis read a question but overall happier girl than when she left this morning! We can breathe again unt physics!!x

Rassy · 10/05/2019 13:27

Am jealous of those of you whose children have finished/nearly finished! DD still has history, physics, business and graphic communication- doesn't finish till the 21st Sad

Alittewornout · 10/05/2019 13:41

Rassy feel your pain last year Dd last exam was the 4th June and first one had been 5 weeks earlier. This year it’s the 16th May with design and manufacture which is way better.

ClerkMaxwell · 10/05/2019 13:55

DD said first H paper was easy and second what she expected. She's just relieved to not to have to study science again.

WickedGoodDoge · 10/05/2019 14:31

It seems to have gone well for DS as well. He now has a week “off” then Philosophy on the 20th and Computing Science in the 22nd.

emummy · 10/05/2019 14:42

Dd says it was ok, think she's just relieved it's done! Good luck to everyone who still has exams left

Gingersstuff · 10/05/2019 16:56

DS had Nat 5 English yesterday, delighted that the close reading was about McDonalds, thought it went quite well. Chemistry today a different matter though. He didn’t respond to any of my texts and then when he did get around to answering said it didn’t go well, he left way too early and buggered off to his girlfriend’s house Hmm
Still, there’s always 5th year and after the year we’ve had with him, I’m just pleased he sat the exams in the first place to be honest.

weegiemum · 10/05/2019 17:32

We're here until the 28th (Geography). Ds is Art, but he had his driving theory on 28th while dd2 is doing geography.

I'm usually last out of these threads as my kids all do Gaidhlig (native speakers Gaelic) which is traditionally last, but this year it was one of the first. Still looks like it will be me putting out the lights!

Superjaggy · 10/05/2019 18:27

DD thought Nat 5 chemistry was ok but definitely the most difficult exam she's done so far. It's her favourite subject though so she may be being hard on herself.

WaxOnFeckOff · 10/05/2019 18:34

We have Mandarin tomorrow and then History on Monday and then....

I just noticed this thread in active and wanted to send a positive teacher message to you all! And plea that you make sure your child uses the SCHOOL version of the timetable and not the SQA version because the school can adjust timing by 30 mins in either direction of the official time (to fit with school transport etc). Not that one of my pupils was late for their exam today, oh no...

DonkeyHohtay · 11/05/2019 08:36

DS had Chemistry yesterday too and thought it was "fine" but I get so little feedback that it's impossible to say what that means, exactly. He said it was just the same as Biology Hmm

Still have three to go - History, French and Computing.

Willyoubuymeahouseofgold · 12/05/2019 08:14

Just Nat 5 History to go here ... roll on Monday as the Force is weak with this one !
Had N5 Chemistry on Friday and she said the first paper ( multiple choice) was more difficult than the Paper 2.

Lidlfix · 12/05/2019 08:40

History notes and essays all over Lidl house this weekend with DD3 sitting Higher and DD4 Nat 5. That only leaves French for DD4 and RMPS for DD3 but she has to wait till 28th for that. I'll start my SQA marking on the 24th so they have grip on us for a while yet.

Alittewornout · 12/05/2019 09:44

Lidl can I ask as a teacher and SQA marker if students with dyslexia are identified for marking purposes? Totally understand if you can’t say. My Dd always worries about her spelling for English as she prefers to hand write rather than type so no spell check!! She has a really good vocabulary and if you read her Spelling phonetically it’s pretty clear but I just wondered how it works!! Good luck for history tomorrow!x

Keeptrudging · 12/05/2019 10:13

Just stumbled across this thread. DD is all finished Nat 5s, so now has 3 weeks off (to tidy her room). I'm really pleased with how she's studied, she's kept a cool head on and only one strop. DS was a nightmare when he had exams - didn't study, major strops, left exams early etc, so it's been a pleasant surprise watching DD.

Music was great, it's her major strength. Maths paper 1 was bleuch, paper 2 was fine. Biology she was happy with, but she's quite mathematical amyway. English she was pleased with the poem and the rest was fine. Chemistry was the one she was dreading, and it seems to have gone ok. PE, no exam as it's continuous assessment/performance.

Who knows? We'll see when results come out, but I'm quietly confident given how hard she's worked, plus staying in exams using extra time to check, she says there were a few things she spotted and corrected, phew! Good luck to everyone still sitting exms, we're away to chill out for a while!
