Just getting started on this year's thread.

Only got Ds sitting 5 exams this year in S5. 🤞🏻 but Dd will be home most of the time as she's on placement.

They only get to check the list when they arrive at the door for the exam. I know it sounds like 'not a big deal' to add an extra seat but that all took time. She had to go & find her Maths teacher who had to go with her to confirm she should be taking the exam. Then they had to get her in, seated & given a paper. It all ate into her exam time & well you can imagine what it did to her stress & confidence levels

Superjaggy · 05/05/2019 15:11

Sounds like a nightmare, Watcher, I really hope the school has a way of notifying SQA of what happened. And I hope your DD has enough time until her next exam to put that horrible experience behind her.

Superjaggy · 05/05/2019 15:14

Wax, our DCs sound very similar!

dontfluffthefluffer · 07/05/2019 12:36

Well we have higher English tomorrow. Where is ds? Still in bloody bed 🙄

I've opened doors, sent in siblings/animals and told him to haul his sorry arse up to do one final past paper. He grunted at me.

Arghhhhhh

Groovee · 07/05/2019 13:07

I'm just home from work as it's an inservice day and Ds is up made himself lunch and been revising for higher english. After tomorrow is higher chemistry so that will be Thursday.

emummy · 07/05/2019 13:22

Dd had higher Spanish this morning, so she's eating all the food before getting some English revision in. Then it's chemistry on Friday & we're done! Chemistry will be stressful I think

ClerkMaxwell · 07/05/2019 13:24

DD was up at 8 today to study for H English but my DSs were more like your DS dontfluff. DS1 used to spin me the line that English was skills based so you didn't need to study and you can just learn your quotes the night before!!

ClerkMaxwell · 07/05/2019 13:30

I should add that learn your quotes meant write them on post-its and put them around your screen while playing your PS2.

Groovee · 08/05/2019 13:39

Ds said english went fine. 🙄. Except his brace burst just before the first exam started 🙈. So orthodontist it is.

Chemistry on Friday.

OP posts:
ClerkMaxwell · 08/05/2019 13:52

DD said the same. Hope your orthodontist is about as DDs went on the Sunday of a holiday weekend and no one locally was willing to attempt a fix so we ended up traipsing to the Dental Hospital.

Groovee · 08/05/2019 13:58

Got an appointment for 3.40pm. It's a big practice so they often will oversee repairs.

WickedGoodDoge · 08/05/2019 16:33

English seems to have been fine here as well and he also has Chemistry next- probably his hardest subject

howabout · 08/05/2019 16:40

Verdict here was English was as expected. Also got Chemistry next.

dontfluffthefluffer · 08/05/2019 16:42

Same here, English went ok. He was mildly stumped by question 9 in the first paper as both segments of writing seemed to agree with one another and not disagree but he eeked out some answer or another. Happy with paper 2 so fingers crossed.

Now to wait a couple of weeks until classics and drama.

Hope all goes well with the other exams this week for everyone.

Alittewornout · 08/05/2019 17:36

Verdict here was English was as expected. No SQA surprises. Not my Dd best subject so fingers crossed.x

Rassy · 08/05/2019 21:57

English Nat 5 tomorrow morning- hope that is ok, like the higher one!

WaxOnFeckOff · 08/05/2019 23:30

AH English also seems to have been fine. All the best for Nat 5 tomorrow.

Alittewornout · 09/05/2019 08:30

Good luck to all sitting Nat 5 English today!🍀🤞

Lidlfix · 09/05/2019 09:57

Paper 1 fair no surprises and passage about McDonalds so a bit more engaging than cats in bookshops.

ClerkMaxwell · 09/05/2019 12:31

I remember one of my boys complaining about a passage about musical theatre (he'd never heard of Frozen). McDs would have been right up their street.

howabout · 09/05/2019 12:38

DD2 liked the cats in bookshops last year. She thinks the current obsession with fake news is a bit passe though (imagine the accompanying teenage eye roll which I hope she didn't convey to the examiner yesterday).

Superjaggy · 09/05/2019 19:22

Close reading about McD's couldn't have been more up my DD's street! I'm usually quite ashamed of her penchant for the chicken legend but I'm quite delighted for her today Grin. She was really nervous about but thinks it went ok - hope everyone else's DCs had a good day.

Chemistry tomorrow, then History on Monday, with a 16th birthday in between... and then a rest until Art. Half way there!

weegiemum · 09/05/2019 23:51

English Higher and Nat5 went really well here - 2 happy kiddos.

Several of ds friends finish with Chemistry tomorrow so there is a "gaff" tomorrow night he wants to go to. He's got physics on Wed, and after that computing and art, but I think an evening (and inevitable morning after) of relaxation shouldn't do him much harm.

Dd2 has French on Tuesday. She hates French and everything about it. Tbf, she's had a dreadful teacher. Getting any revision done is going to be a challenge!

Alittewornout · 10/05/2019 07:24

Good luck to all the chemists today! Think higher chemistry with be a hard gig.🤞

Groovee · 10/05/2019 07:45

I'm not convinced Ds is bothered about chemistry. Me and him are crossing swords this morning.
