DD is going into P2 Shock

I can't believe this time last year she was just starting. Now she is really ready to go back so am I Blush

We've to pick up the (gosh, I've forgotten the word.... custom? school embroidered) jumper, cardigan and outdoor learning stuff on Thursday. Hoping to hell it all fits. MIL has promised to buy her a lunchbox and then that'll be us!

Sorry :o

If it's any consolation I will be spending the week with two teenage boys.

WankersHacksandThieves · 13/08/2016 21:51

does it help that they are free unlimited cocktails?

OhFuds · 13/08/2016 22:28

I've got until the 23rd before I get peace from my teenager, nursery is a day later due to building work. I'll be glad to get into some kinda routine again, these late nights and long lies are wearing thin. I feel like I'm wasting half a day waiting on the kids getting out of bed.

Kr1stina · 15/08/2016 00:15

No the free cocktails don't help Envy

Although the fact that you have two teenagers with you helps a lot Grin

Did I mention that it's been cold and wet here ?

May get some phone calls for supply this week. Enjoyed having a whole term with regular days. Would love to do that again. Be strange to think of all my wee ones going into P1 this week!

onlyevertartanjammies · 15/08/2016 18:14

Everyone had a good day?

I'm not terribly pleased with DD's new teacher. She's in her sixties and I have heard she is very shouty and teaches to the middle of the class. DD was a bit jittery tbh- she had a very, very calm woman last year and is not used to noise. We shall see.

The wee P1s were adorable this morning! In fact, all of the kids were beautifully turned out. Lots of wee boys in shorts, which I think is the cutest thing ever.

How unfair am I being putting my P1 on the school bus on day 2?

I know going into school he will be fine, no tears but.....

OhFuds · 15/08/2016 23:27

I worked in a Out of School club for 10yrs, I saw a lot of P1's coming on the school bus and they were always fine. One year though I remember the staff were quite shocked that one parent phoned us and asked if we could take her P1 to school on the 1st day Shock we had only had saw the child for a quick visit so she didn't know us and we didn't really know her.

MrEBear · 15/08/2016 23:33

I'm guessing if she didn't have a car the bus would have been her only option. Although I would have been tempted to go on the bus with kid on day 1.
I guess it will feel weird regardless of when I do it the first time. But I know it needs to happen at some point.
Is day2 too early?

Ours go back on Wednesday. Ds is going into p6 Shock and Dd into p2. Both are quite young in their year especially ds and I so wish I had deferred him but hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Ds has a male teacher which he's quite happy about and is with his friends but Dd has been separated from all her friends from her class in p1 and is going in to a class of 30 whereas she was cosseted in a class of 21 last year. Bit worried because all the other girls bar 1 have been with that class through p1 so she'll be a newcomer.....

Having said that they have fought alot this holiday and I need a break from that!!!!

dementedpixie · 16/08/2016 08:14

Last day of the holidays here. Ds not looking forward to going back as he was in a composite class last year and made a lot of good friends with the older primary (he was p5 and they were p6). He is now being moved back to a straight p6 class and is in with all the ones 'who annoy him' and are so immature (in his words!). Also the teacher he is supposed to be getting is off on long term sick leave so he may be getting the deputy head teacher instead and he isn't entirely happy about it.

Dd is going into S2 and hasn't really given a view one way or another as to how she feels. It will be murder getting her up tomorrow though as she has been on 'teen time' and has been staying up late and sleeping in.

Not sure I'm looking forward to tomorrow but will be glad to have peace and get back to all my exercise classes as I've missed most of them this holiday

MrEBear · 16/08/2016 20:56

Well my big P1 managed to brave the school bus on day 2.
I was told someone would take the P1's into the school however he appears to have been a sheep and followed the bigger kids into the playground. Then found his wee pal (who was with his mum) kind of makes me feel neglectful but at the same time DS did manage ok(ish).

DoloresVanCartier · 16/08/2016 21:16

DS just went into first year. I'm going to miss having him every day. He's at his dad's tonight and I miss him soooo much Sad

Cocoabutton · 17/08/2016 05:49

Back today here. DD is at secondary and they already shifted up to their new year end of May. Upwards hemline movement seems to have begun. DS is still at primary. He is going into a composite class.

Really enjoyed the holidays, but DS's anxiety about going back is ramping up. Fingers crossed he will be fine.

Cocoabutton · 17/08/2016 05:51

Dolores, Flowers must be rough not to have your DS home during the week. Good wishes to you.

Groovee · 17/08/2016 06:15

Managed to get up at the alarm this morning. Where's the sun gone?

hidingwithwine · 17/08/2016 06:39

Oh well. At least I'm going to make the first day of session this year. Lost my dad last year on the first day of session. This is a hard week with a lot of what ifs and this time last year...

2 days of INSET done. DCs are in P4, S4 and S6 now so this is my last year of all 3 going back to school. Gone in a flash.

Good luck everyone!

dementedpixie · 17/08/2016 08:08

Both mine are up and one is dressed and ready, the other is a work in progress! Sun is out so they are going to roast in their school stuff. Ds has his school shorts on that we got at the end of last year so he has a little bit of air flow. Good luck to everyone who has their first day back today
