My dd1 is in s4 and about to sit 8 Nat5s. I don't know who is more wound up about it - her or me! (and I'm a teacher!!).

Wondered if there's anyone else out there to hold hands with?

DD is sitting English, Maths, Ghaidlig (Gaelic native speaker), French, History, Art & Design, Physics and Design & Manufacture. First is English on 5th May.

Oh dear Weegie.

Dd is planning 3 maths papers by tomorrow afternoon. Maths tutor comes tomorrow night. Then a bit chill out on Wednesday before some more revision. Then Kalms and sit the exam on Thursday.

DD also thought Biology went well. So relieved, her confidence has been restored and hopefully she is in a better frame of mind ahead if maths on Thurs. It's not her strongest subject but she has also been doing past papers. She's having a night off though!

weegiemum · 09/05/2016 18:56

Dd has eaten and is now doing past papers in her room.

Good news about biology - seems everyone will have done well :)

Can I just ask what, if anything, you expect DC on study leave to do about the house while they are off and if you are at work?

Groovee · 09/05/2016 19:58

Oh Magnum that resulted in a huge fight as Dd seems to think that she needs to do nothing. She'll be told to do all her dishes tomorrow as I am working and to keep an eye on the slow cooker!

I think the break to do mundane things is good for them and we don't get a night off just because we work or study!

OneMagnumisneverenough · 09/05/2016 20:27

Last week I didn't ask him to do anything and beyond making himself lunch, he didn't.

Obviously as the weeks go by he'll have less left to study so I don't think it would be unreasonable to ask him to do a couple of small things.

It's just that today I said to him to do some study, get some fresh air and tidy up his bedroom. He says he did an hour and a half of study, he went round the estate on his scooter a couple of times and put a few clothes in the wash and a few crisp packets in the bin.

Breakfast and lunch stuff still on the table etc. I just felt like he could have made a bit of an effort. But hey ho I should have maybe gave him some specifics.

Groovee · 09/05/2016 22:07

Dd has been told. I plan to leave a list of what she must do. I will scream if I come home to a mess.

OneMagnumisneverenough · 09/05/2016 22:18

Just thinking that he was sitting eating breakfast at 8.30 and DS2 and I got in at 4.00pm. So in 7 and half hours he did an hour and half study and probably about an hour in total between showering/making lunch and scootering about. That leaves 5 hours worth of what?

I'm going to get him to fill the dishwasher, finish of his room, strip his bed and wash and hang it out and while he is hoovering his room, he can do the upstairs hall.

So that's an hour worth at most.

Text convo with DS1 today

Me - are you studying
DS - I'm in the garden in the sun
Me - are you studying there?
DS - the cat is lying beside me...
Me - have you studied at all?
DS - I'm just going to get some food..

...food features a lot in this study leave - I can't believe we have to leave him alone with the fridge for long periods of time GrinWink

OneMagnumisneverenough · 09/05/2016 22:34

ha ha hiding I'm having the opposite problem. He won't take anything without asking so he'll make himself something for lunch but it will literally be just a sandwich or whatever and then as soon as i get in the door he is asking what's for dinner because he is starving. I've tried to say to him to have a similar amount that I'd give him in a packed lunch but he just won't help himself. He is like that with everything really - he needs direction all the time. I'd love it if he went out and sat in the garden.

hidingwithwine · 09/05/2016 22:42

This is higher adv level procrastination though - I can't remember last time DS sat out in the sun. He prefers to sit in the shade fully clothed mumbling about skin cancer. He ducked out of a trip to the deer farm on Sunday too, so he could study.

He sat out in the garden then too...Wink

DD has her Italian at 9am this morning, then an hour break and Graphics this afternoon.

I'm assuming she is feeling quite confident as she did very little yesterday (apparently they are not the type of subjects you can study for Hmm)

In regards to doing things about the house, I had a moan at DD yesterday as I came in and the place was a mess, bowls, crisp packets etc lying about. I did say that this week when she has a lot on, i don't expect her to do much beyond tidying up after herself, but I do expect that! She has 4 exams this week, then a week before her last one, then a week and a half off before she is back to school, so I would like her to help out more then.

hidingwithwine · 10/05/2016 11:25

Yeah DD says you "can't really study" for Graph Comm too Hmm. We're dropping him off at school as I head to hospital for the afternoon Confused

OneMagnumisneverenough · 10/05/2016 11:39

Hope all goes well for everyone today including hiding. We have Engineering tomorrow.

DS1 now seems to think he is on holiday Hmm I heard DH roaring that at him last night about half 11. "Get to bed with your lights out, you are not on holiday"

YoScience · 10/05/2016 11:40

DD has said Italian was hard but ok, apart from the listening which was really hard.

Having lunch then straight back in to her next one, hope this one isn't as bad!

Good luck to everyone with an exam this afternoon, and goo luck at your appointment hiding Smile

hidingwithwine · 10/05/2016 12:36

Thanks. Just dropped DS off - he's not chuffed as his best mates don't do GC so there's no jaunting off to Subway afterwards etc. We're just heading towards the hospital.now Confused

Groovee · 10/05/2016 16:22

Hope today's exams went well!

Give Dd her due she has done her dishes.

YoScience · 10/05/2016 16:42

Doing the dishes is good Smile

DD has text to say graphics was "better", better that what i am not sure?! But it is the first positive message I've had after exams! That's 4 down, halfway! Grin

OneMagnumisneverenough · 10/05/2016 16:58

No dishes done here and a jam sandwich eaten for lunch because he couldn't find a oven tray to heat up the sausage rolls I'd left for him in the fridge Hmm

hidingwithwine · 10/05/2016 17:00

DS says he "thinks it went well" Hmm

prettybird · 10/05/2016 17:12

Ds has done a couple of hours of Maths (two past papers which he said he did in half the allocated time) and yaaaaay Wink some French and a bit of Chemistry. He seems pretty relaxed.

He says his Maths teacher has said they're not allowed to leave before the full time: if they finish early (which that class will Smile), they have to check and recheck their work.

OneMagnumisneverenough · 10/05/2016 17:15

No clue what DS has done - he has Engineering tomorrow am and Maths Thursday pm. He's going to help at Scouts tonight.

Groovee · 10/05/2016 18:21

Hmm it turns out Dd has been feeding her friends duck spring rolls and rice for lunch. Had to rehash some of her dishes! Hmm

OneMagnumisneverenough · 10/05/2016 18:24

turns out Dd has been feeding her friends duck spring rolls and rice for lunch

Could you tell that by the debris still on the dishes? :o
