my little brother is dealing drugs

My 21 year old brother is partway through his degree. He's been a recreational drug user for years, quite heavy usage at times, but cut backs during exam time etc. Straight A student. Very sociable. Anyway, I saw him at the weekend & it transpires that he is dealing class A drugs. He acts a middleman & buys quite large quantities. He estimates he will "earn" above the tax threshold through it this year. I don't think he's doing it for the money, particularly. He's fully funded through uni (no student loan even) & has large amount of savings that were handed over to him at 18. He's very pro-drugs & hyper-rational about it all.

I worry about him getting caught, basically, but can't see anything I can do. He considers me to be "bourgeoise" now I have kid & don't party/live spontaneously any more, & he considers our other brother to be uncool. We all get on, but I don't think our words have much weight for him. Our parents know that he is a recreational drug user & have done for years - they don't object in theory but worry about the quantities - but they have no idea about the dealing. I toyed with the idea of telling them but can't really see what it would achieve - not like he can be grounded...

He naturally considers himself invincible, but of course he's not. He already has a caution for squatting, would have thought being held in police cells for 5 hours might have given him a bit of a shock, but apparently not.

Not really sure why I'm putting this out there, except it's really weighing on my mind at the moment.

Report the scum bag to the police!

CockacidalManiac · 24/07/2017 09:01

Do people really not read until the end of the thread before posting a comment? It's always a good idea so that:

1- you can see if the thread has taken another turn, or that the OP has updated (or drip fed).

OR

2- it's a fucking long dead Zombie thread, and someone has noticed.

My older step brother was a dealer. He was intelligent, greedy, money orientated and I thought he was great. At 12 he gave me drugs, regularly spiked me with speed, stole from everybody and after about 10 years he disappeared. I ended up in rehab. He hasn't seen his son for 14 years. Nobody really cares he's gone.
Your brother will possibly destroy every relationship he has and if it's anything like our experience, you won't even care.
Drugs destroy everything, your brother is a dick. I hope mumsnet report this thread to the police and pass on your details.

Criminal defence lawyer here - If caught dealing and found to be in a leading role (which he is) he's looking at a starting point of 8 years and 6 months prison. People do not avoid a prison sentence for supplying class A drugs on this scale. Especially when it's a conspiracy as there's so many people working under his control. Don't report him if you want to avoid this. Go NC if he refuses to stop

PeachPearPotato · 24/07/2017 11:17

How could you not have realised the thread would go like this? You sound as bad as him. There's a reason drug dealing gets a prison sentence idiot. Our children will be hitting university soon and I hope your brother and anyone like him has their lives turned upside down by prison sentences by them.

It's not like we're even talking about cannabis. Do you not worry about how many deaths of young people your stupid brother will be responsible for?

CockacidalManiac · 24/07/2017 11:24

It's a zombie thread; it's all from 7 years ago.

PeachPearPotato · 24/07/2017 11:25

Whoops - ZOMBIE - hopefully he's banged up by now.

Hudson10 · 24/07/2017 11:25

Seeing as it's SEVEN YEARS AGO since it was posted..... wonder if they did turn him in.

holeinmypocket · 24/07/2017 12:44

Ooh, what's a zombie thread. Need an update!!

Someone I know worked at a U.K. Airport and had an unaccompanied 5 year old come in on a flight, the child passed out in her arms and it turns out it was because she was stuffed full of drugs (I can't bear to think how you force a 5 year old to swallow condoms or wraps full of drugs or what would happen once she passed them). But it's ok to sell those drugs if your the middle man???
