if you mean fuck buddy, as in all you do is meet for sex and have no other kind of relationship outside that (i.e you dont socialise and they wouldnt be classed as a friend), then i have had one, it served a purpose at the time and was complication free, we both knew where we stood, and it ran it's course with no drama

if you mean a friend with benefits (someone you know and see in other situations and consider a mate as well), then i have more experience of that

as long as you both know what you want and dont want, and can remain on good terms without having sex, then it can work well

the problems arise when one starts feeling or wanting more than the other, and doesnt talk about it, in which case it can get messy and risk the friendship you originally had

there is no reason why either situation cant work though
