I have been chatting to a man online and we are due to meet up on Thursday. However last night he told me something that REALLY put me off but its so petty I keep wondering if it's too ridiculous.
He told me he has posters of dragons on his bedroom wall. I know how petty and stupid it sounds but it has really put me off. I keep imagining "comic book store guy". He does go on about mythical creatures and bats etc but until he said about the posters it didn't bother me.

Should I go on the date anyway or would this little thing put anyone else off?

Another vote for meet him

cannydoit · 24/02/2009 15:31

my hubby is comic book store guy when i met him he ran a cimic store and had comic posters on his wall ...not cool but it has been 10yrs.lol so u have to ignore it.

Hassled · 24/02/2009 15:43

"Mythical creatures was down as one of his interests on the actual site. I should have known then."

yes, you should have known then! But I'm warming to Comic Book Guy - I think you need to meet him just so we can get the details. Do you think he's overweight with facial hair?

cmotdibbler · 24/02/2009 16:16

Moondog - I know plenty of Welsh D&D players. Some of them are even nice, single men if anyone in Cardiff is interested (shameless plug for lovely, kind, but shy friend)

kalo12 · 24/02/2009 19:21

lou33 - i want ot go out with that man! we could duet at Karaoke. I want to listen to that record

StayOutOfTheLight · 24/02/2009 19:53

Well Stalker has begun sending me racist jokes via text so there's my excuse!

OP posts:
goodnightmoon · 24/02/2009 21:00

at least he's not like the guy on the nutter thread

Jenbot · 25/02/2009 10:50

Aw, give him a chance. At least it's not a topless ladies calendar on his wall. Or a poster of a naked elf.
Hmm, maybe it is a dragon with boobs, in that case I'd probably run.

On the other hand, you could have dragon elf sex with him just the once, for the craic and your memoirs?

ingles2 · 25/02/2009 10:57

awww, give him a chance. Is a nerdy poster or 2 of dragons really any worse than one of my friends who wears full arsenal kit and drinks out of an arsenal mug whilst gazing adoringly at Fabregas??? mmm?

aseriouslyblondemoment · 25/02/2009 11:27

omg this has made me smile lots!
Stayoutofthelight i would be well put off by him truly
the stalker too?
ive had one of those on my case recently
personally i wouldnt even tell him to stop texting as by doing that you're in effect giving him the contact he craves even if it isnt a positive message.but these saddos are so deluded that he will still take it a sign of possible interest on your part.
can you block him on your phone/msn and on online site too
The welsh thing made me LOL too
er hem can i just remind you that a very fit guy called Kelly Jones is welsh{asbm swoons}
and he is the only man who i would allow to have pics of dragons on his wall
as quite frankly wouldnt be concentrating on that kind of thing if i made it into his bedroom

aseriouslyblondemoment · 25/02/2009 11:28

and yes as SCL said
get on the 'fit and interesting'thread on lone parents

lou33 · 26/02/2009 09:04

I had to give up a guy who had a long brown leather coat, in the style of a duffle coat- it had paisley lining. Hideous.

I did find out shortly after though that he had not in fact ben away with 'the army' for four years, but had been in prison for that time for stabbing someone.

So maybe the coat dislike was a blessing in disguise.

BobDowne · 26/02/2009 11:04

You'll never know for sure unless you meet him!
I was almost put off my new man by his geeky sci-fi tendencies. But he's one of the loveliest men i've ever known - embrace geek chic that's what i say.
Much more interesting than going down the pub watching footy and drinking 10 pints.

JJsandcat · 26/02/2009 12:05

Would not respond to Stalker and maybe call your mobile phone comp and see if they can blacklist it. What fon do you have sometimes you can barr certain numbers.

Not sure about the other ones but dragon posters are a bit weird. He sounds like a kid himself.

FWIW, I am the proud owner of a Storm Trooper outfit complete with helmet and gun and I'm quite normal

lou33 · 26/02/2009 17:18

post a pic on your profile!

StayOutOfTheLight · 26/02/2009 18:42

StayOutOfTheLight · 26/02/2009 19:53

Yes lou and Stay, will do that once I can squeeze my plump arse back into it...LOL.

My Dh actually bought it for me because I'm such a nerd big fan. Fulfilled my childhood dream he did...

lou33 · 27/02/2009 09:19

go on jj you know you want to!

FrannyandZooey · 27/02/2009 09:37

oh, you know, i think you should have met him

i once passed on a bloke who played dungeons and dragons and painted those little figurine things - you know, little monsters with axes and stuff
he was without doubt the most physically beautiful man i've ever spent time with
10 years down the line i think "was i mad? he wasn't trying to make ME paint orcs"
