Should I reach out to “former” mistress?

Long story short, or at least I will try to aim for it. I was in a relationship, almost a year when my ex boyfriend got busted that he had had another woman pretty much the whole time while we were exclusively together. There were signs a few times but I had left it there, until there were more and more signs and I decided to reach out to the woman who admitted the affair between them, and it was happening pretty much the whole time during our relationship. Obviously, we then broke up, but after a while he started to reach out to me again and was really committed to prove me that “I am his only one” so we kind of reconnected. Yes, I know how stupid I am, but I gave it a go. Since then, we had some ups and downs, but we have been seeing each other for a little while now. I know that these two have been in touch and messaging sometimes, but as per my ex says, nothing romantic. I have a gut feeling that there is more to this, and I told him that I would reach out to the woman again to find out the truth. He seemed quite panicky and said things that didn’t exactly feel very nice, almost like he wants to suddenly end things with me. I know it may make me look stupid, but I am really leaning towards reaching out to her to find the truth out. I have a feeling that he is keeping both of us, and he is worried that if I reached out to her, he would end things with him as well.
I am pretty much alone in this, please help me! What would you do?

Delete and move on.

Hairyfairy01 · Today 19:26

You know what the answer is OP, however there is a high chance that neither will tell the truth so little point in asking. You, rightly, don’t trust him so your relationship is dead regardless. Get rid of him.

Flatwhiteeveryday · Today 19:28

I know, and my biggest issue is that I exactly know what I want in a relationship and how I want to feel and none of them applies, don’t even understand myself, tbh.

If I have understood, she isn't his mistress. He's just dating two women at the same time.

He could be lying to her too.
He's not a good long-term bet.

ForTipsyFinch · Today 19:32

No. It’s not going to bring you any peace, and a woman who colluded with your partner in going behind your back isn’t someone I would trust to be honest anyway.

TheBlueKoala · Today 19:36

@Flatwhiteeveryday She told you once. You would only look stupid getting back asking her again. He's already proven to you that he's a cheater- no need to look further. Get rid.

PrawnAgain · Today 19:46

Are you sure you aren't the mistress?

ClaudeHopper · Today 19:48

Bin him. Move on.

This is one scenario, yes, and this is also why I want to reach out, but just don’t know if it would make sense. Just the way his reaction was when I came io with the idea go reach out to the girl, makes me want to message her.

I’m confused - you guys got back together but he’s still talking to this woman and you’re aware? The same woman he was cheating on you with?

Yes, pretty much that’s what it is. I know, I am crazy, right?

He's not going to tell you the truth. She's not going to tell you the truth.

You already know the truth.

This guy is a player who has multiple relationships at the same time. He hasn't done the work of change. He's just saying what he knows you want to hear. Why would you fall for his bullshit again?

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

Billy47 · Today 20:36

You know he's a cheat. You know he has jeopardise your sexual health by sleeping with you both at the same time. You've chosen to stay with him. He knows he can have his cake, eat it and throw you a few kind, manipulative and charming words and get away with it. You can look over your shoulder forever or dump his arse. When you dump his arse no harm in texting his other GF to tell her how long he's been in a relationship with you.

No judgement from me as I also got back together with someone who cheated, but honestly it only works if you have some very, very solid rules, 0 tolerance and he’s a man who actually wants to be better than that. Most don’t, I don’t think.

What you did was give him the best of both worlds. I’ve done that in the past (forgiven cheating straight away without boundaries) and he just kept cheating. I presume he saw it as a free pass since I was that dumb.

If you’re sure they’re talking I would just end it. It doesn’t matter what she says and she’ll probably lie too anyways. You need to walk away from this situation and leave the two maggots to each other.

Freeme31 · Today 20:43

This has got to be a wind up no one can be this stupid. But if you are do you really still want to be with a man who is happy to cheat and once caught continue seeing you both. Up your game girl and don’t waste any more of your life on this scum bag he will never change

Yes, this is exactly what is happening. Wanted to end this a few times and he always comes back to me with his nice words, and I fall for it, and then I get hurt. I had a bit of an intense reaction today when he just easily told me to walk away, after I told him that I would reach out to the girl, and he told me that I should see someone. (He referred that I was crazy)
just want to be out of this.

I know, you are totally right! I have tried to block him before on every platform but for some reason I always unblock him. I just don’t understand myself. I really need to pull myself together. :)

just want to be out of this.

Then scrape some self-respect together and stop dating a cheat.

Honestly, you're worth way more than the shit you're willing to put up with.

No man is worth this.

The only thing you need to 'reach out' to is the block button.

Clonakilla · Today 20:49

Dump him and book in for some counselling. Get to the bottom of why you think being treated like shit is better than being single.

agreed! I am really not happy, and I told him this a few times, he says he has feelings for me but doesn’t really look like it if he is keep chatting with this girl. I will need to get a grip and put an end to this finally, because I am just wasting my own time!

Your boyfriend is in a relationship with you and also this OW. He's stringing you along, and is likely doing the same to the OW too. End the relationship. Don't settle for a few nice words, you deserve better. He's a player, and isn't going to stay faithful.

Angelina97 · Today 21:16

I had my suspicions that my boyfriend was still hung up on his ex and perhaps still seeing her.
one night she messaged me on Instagram but then deleted the message before I could open it.

I messaged a few days later asking what she’d said. She asked if we were still together as he had been playing her too, seeing her behind my back and pretending me and him were over.

she confronted him and he turned against me, making me out to be a shit stirrer and a bitch, just because he’d been caught out. She dumped him too and he lost us both. I think your guy is doing the same.

Aw sorry this happened to you, but you are better off like this. This is what I think too, hence why I want to message this girl again. She seemed like a nice girl when I reached out to her, ngl. I am sure he manipulating her as well, the way he is doing it with me. I literally have the same gut feeling as before I reached out to her back then.
