Thought I'd do a little update for all of those invested in my other thread, which I'm not linking!

Tonnes of messages Monday /Tuesday and a phone call at Tuesday lunchtime then all quiet; I messaged him early Tuesday afternoon with a choice of 3 restaurants for the Friday evening and nothing, zilch, nada...guess he didn't fancy any of the them 😆

Bit disappointed but it's fine, I saw something I liked, I went for it, it didn't work out, that's life. Thank you, next!

I think I'm just a rubbish judge of character but I agree, I don't think I was pushy sending that message, but I think I'll wait to be contacted with the next one...if there is a next one!

💐Why are men such losers?!

And to clarify i mean a next man, not a next message from the scarlet pimpernel

I don't know, am wondering what's in it for him though? If he's not interested why not say that? If he's attached why not block me? If I'd changed my mind I wouldn't drag it out, I'd just tell them 🤷‍♀️

I mean, yes it's a bit odd that he went silent but he might just be busy and hasn't had chance to look at the options properly and he's not ? My job is always nuts when I get back from annual leave.

Well time will tell, he's not blocked so I will update if by some miracle he responds...don't hold your breath though Grin

oops hit send
he's not meant to be visiting until next weekend so might not have prioritised it over other stuff?

Exactly. Ghosting seems pointlesss as well as unnecessarily rude and unkind.

Imonmyownhere · 25/09/2026 13:13

I mean this with the best intentions - have you been messed around a lot?

I think give it time, what's the rush? What makes you so sure he's not going to return? Try and be positive about the situation.

YES you must update! I'm far too invested 🤣 you seem brilliant btw, if he doesn't bother to respond he's very silly.

We were due to meet next weekend and I've heard nothing since I sent him the choice of restaurants on Tuesday evening, despite a phone call and lots of messages leading up to it.

He's not blocked, he could still message...but I don't think he will

Do you think he might have found out he was mumsnet famous and has now got cold feet? Your last thread was very entertaining but if someone knew a man who just met a lady on holiday it wouldn’t take much to work out if it was him.

It's only Friday afternoon. If you last spoke Tuesday I wouldn't find it too odd.

It's possible I guess, who knows, but he could just say he had seen it, didn't like it, I'm a knob for posting it and for that reason he's out.

It was all true though and only he would know it was about him

You would say I pissed on your chips. I would say I warned you not to eat them because they were rotten.

You do sound fun, though. I'm sure you'll be fine 😊

Some people (men) are real last minute merchants. Maybe it’s that? But whatevs. I’m still glad you reached out and tried. Head held high OP. You did good.

oh wow OP - it's only been 2 days, give the man a chance! Could be busy with catching up at work after his break, or researching the restaurants etc - wouldn't write him off yet

HopeSpringingHigh · 25/09/2026 19:08

Sorry but I read your other thread and thought this would probably happen .
Whilst I don't think you were wrong to text, it does send the wrong message to a man to mess you around . And then he did a rather gaslighty lie about how you remembered his flight on the wrong day if I remember correctly.

I think he enjoys the power . Sorry.

You deserve better ( but I do feel some people were harsh with others on the last thread.) All the talk about marriage and him being wonderful because he flaked on you the first time and then made up an excuse later ,which actually put the blame back on you .

I imagine he thinks you will be in touch again.

So I invited him to mess me around by sending him a message? Righto

I don’t think you are a rubbish judge of character, at all! He showed massive signs of interest, you aren’t stupid, this is him, NOT you!

No . His conduct is unacceptable but it always was unfortunately. He didn't contact you when he said and actually could he not have contacted you from abroad if he was that keen?

This whole " i will call you" is quite controlling of him .

OneRealOchreHiker · 25/09/2026 19:36

I think you will hear from him, not sure when though. Probably after you’ve accepted you’ve dodged a bullet and are at peace with it!

lol
How is saying you'll call someone being controlling? 🤣
They had a nice time, sounds like op liked him, if he liked her as much too then I'm sure he'll be in touch in due course, it's entirely up to OP if she finds his comms unacceptable or not.

Some of us are bad at communicating and spend a lot of time beating ourselves up about it which doesn't actually make us better at communicating, it just makes us feel shit. Luckily there are people who think we're worth knowing regardless. Might be that op's holiday chap is like that, or it might not.
