Thought I'd do a little update for all of those invested in my other thread, which I'm not linking!

Tonnes of messages Monday /Tuesday and a phone call at Tuesday lunchtime then all quiet; I messaged him early Tuesday afternoon with a choice of 3 restaurants for the Friday evening and nothing, zilch, nada...guess he didn't fancy any of the them 😆

Bit disappointed but it's fine, I saw something I liked, I went for it, it didn't work out, that's life. Thank you, next!

‘Life is there for the taking’

You did the right thing, some you win and some you lose 🤷‍♀️.

But I don’t think he’s a ‘tosser’ or a ‘prick’ or that ‘it’s his loss’, I just think he’s a man who went on holiday and met a woman but didn’t want to follow up with texting or meeting up and that’s fine, that’s a normal result.

But he did make plans, he told me he'd booked a hotel and he planned the weekend

But he said he wanted to meet! He said he was going to book a hotel in Manchester for two nights. If that was all lies then I think he is a prick. He has every right to change his mind but if it was only ever a holiday thing then he needed to be clearer IMO.

Exactly this

Ah sorry it didn't come to anything OP, bit shit when they future fake then ghost though. What's that all about?

Well done for the leap of faith though, and as you say...next

Hollowvoice · 24/09/2026 18:41

I'm sorry it didn't work out @BigSpongyHelmet , have to admit I was rooting for a lovely date update!
But I'm glad you texted him. If I hadn't made the first move with my DH heaven knows where we'd be now!

Nah going through the whole effort of coming up with booking 2 nights at a hotel, dinner out, a walk somewhere then ghosting beforehand is pretty prickish behaviour if you ask me

Agreed, it absolutely is DICK behaviour! I’m sorry OP, how disappointing he turned out to be! Xxx

BigSpongyHelmet · 25/09/2026 08:46

Yeah, thought I was losing my mind a bit there when a PP said he's done nothing wrong! Anyway, over it now, numbers deleted, onwards and upwards

Hang on..thought you weren't meeting up yet?

BigSpongyHelmet · 25/09/2026 10:05

We were due to meet next weekend and I've heard nothing since I sent him the choice of restaurants on Tuesday evening, despite a phone call and lots of messages leading up to it.

He's not blocked, he could still message...but I don't think he will

OP posts:
PinkMagpie · 25/09/2026 10:10

Oh wait, if it’s next weekend that changes things. He might still reply as there is still plenty of time to book the restaurant etc

PinkMagpie · 25/09/2026 10:11

But it sounds like you have your doubts OP so maybe you are picking up on a vibe from him that he is inconsistent

Nevernotgoingto · 25/09/2026 10:34

Hmm if it’s not till next weekend he might reappear but maybe with an excuse or no real commitment as you know his messaging behaviour has changed. What you don’t want is him to start messaging you again but feeling like he might let you down. (Yes been there enough to know the pattern myself.)

Yes definitely, especially after how it started!

Was following your first thread. Next weekend! Oh loads of time! I reckon he’ll be in touch x

Yeah this is how I'm feeling, I've chased him once, I'm not doing it again, too much like hard work...I'd be on here moaning about him every week if it did progress Grin

OP posts:
Tcateh · 25/09/2026 11:41

Yes I think you would be on here having doubts if it did progress.
There's just something flakey on his side going on.

My take, he met other women whilst away, perfectly fine, but I just get the feeling he's maybe messaging someone else too.

I wouldn't bother with anymore follow up op.

It might be totally innocent and he's not looked at places to eat yet, but he'd surely text and still ask after you since Tuesday?

I just think you're gonna to be second guessing anything now.
It's not worth the stress for you.
Xx

Definitely. I'm quite happy to sack it off now.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained I guess. It was always worth a try, but if he's definitely vanished after making plans then it's better to find out now than once you'd really invested your time and effort.
Thanks for updating us, hope the chip pissers don't stop you taking a chance another time!

Imonmyownhere · 25/09/2026 12:18

So you've met this person once (well a few times as you were on holiday) and already exchanged lots of keen messages, he's booked a hotel and you're not meeting til next weekend, hold your horses matey!! Texting multiple times a day every day isn't sustainable for everyone, give him some leeway.

BigSpongyHelmet · 25/09/2026 12:20

I'm 100% sure I'll never hear from him again but at least I know.

Got another solo holiday booked in for November, maybe I'll meet someone there 😆

Abso fucking lutely not!

If it happens it happens but I'll be very wary going forward

I really don’t think you were too pushy with your messaging to him. He has just turned out to be a disingenuous loser, so don’t feel that you have done anything wrong or that you need to change your behaviour when you meet someone else.

KillingEvesbestmate · 25/09/2026 12:46

You don't need him. Definitely his loss.

I think I'm just a rubbish judge of character but I agree, I don't think I was pushy sending that message, but I think I'll wait to be contacted with the next one...if there is a next one!
