Why is he always talking about teenagers?

Been dating for ten months. Both mid fifties and divorced for some years and both with adult children in their twenties.

Earlier today we popped into a local pub for a bite to eat. I'd just had minor surgery and was feeling huge relief and fancied a wee tipple as well. It was a busy Wetherspoons, Friday afternoon, loads of students and young people. The minute we sat down he could not take his eyes off four young women right in his line of vision. He commented as I noticed him staring, "oh look how she's almost wearing nothing, the top, it's backless, got no back at all" Then looking and looking. I looked around and four very pretty young girls sitting having fun. Yes a backless top. They all looked barely a day over 18. He then said "They look sooooo young. Like children... "

He stared and stared. Not long after they left. I only hope not because of him.

Then he said... "What shall we talk about then.... " He looked very embarrassed as I said nothing. I felt very uncomfortable.

A couple of weeks back we were out in a cafe and a group of girls came in, around 16 to 17 if not a bit younger at a guess. He stared and stared and said "Look at those teenage girls. I can watch exactly what's going on from where I'm sitting"

A few other times he has commented on teen clothing and how tight it is and done the staring thing.

Am I reading too much OK into this?

I'd be worried what's on his devices. Or if he's been using yours. Absolutely gross.

Have you actually read what you’ve written???? This guy is a pervert, plain and simple. Why are you with him????

The thing is, the police might be in possession of other information that the OP doesn't know about. This could potentially help them to join the dots.

I don't think that the police can do anything about a man leering at young girls, but I don't see that there would be any harm in flagging it with them anyway. Just in case.

I can't see how "my boyfriend stared at teenage girls in the pub" is going to help the police join any dots.

You would be calling the police about no crime with no evidence. How would this system not be abused by someone with a grudge?

If the OP were to go snooping on the computer and find illegal material, then that is evidence and a crime. But simply asking the police if they could investigate someone? Some people on here think that they could ask the police to perform a search on all his devices just because they ask.

There needs to be something more substantial for any police involvement.

Not reading enough into it sorry OP. Not a goodun, throw this one back sorry.

@weebleswobblebuttheydontfallover "This is really not normal."

Times must've changed since I was a teenager then. I wish I had a pound for every bloke twice my age that had a sneaky look in my direction whilst out with his missus. And I wasn't even that much to write home about, just young and wearing a mini skirt.

The talking about it and going on about their clothes isn’t normal. I’m not oblivious enough to believe that men don’t look at women and girls!

True. They usually took a peak and then no doubt fantasised.

HambleTheDoll · 29/08/2026 15:58

Did you post this before? I would seriously dump him. He’s a pervert at best and a nonse at worse.

A nonce when they are16-18? It might be inappropriate and sleazy, disgusting, but not a nonce

Even if he's not a nonce it's still revolting and inappropriate. And disrespectful to OP! How'd he like it if she started perving over teenage boys? I sincerely hope she's got shot of him!

What are your thoughts @Elviva?

You need to report him and the police need to check his devices. Hideous.

Report him to whom? The Bureau of Inappropriate Thoughts? The police can't just turn up and check his devices. They have to have grounds for reasonable suspicion that an offence has been committed. Your belief that your boyfriend has an unhealthy interest in much younger women would not trigger police action, but it is a perfectly good reason not to carry on dating that individual.

Because it’s that simple 😂

I'm so sorry, OP. This is grim.

You are absolutely not reading too much into this. Tell him you don't want to see him again.

I don't know if the police would be able to do anything in this scenario but, in your shoes, I would absolutely want to tell someone just in case it could prevent a young girl from coming to any harm.

What absolute shite, what is it you think the police would link it to ? I don’t even think it would get recorded on to an intel system
