Ugh! Dp buying more lads mags and having them sent to his mum's house so I don't discover them like I did 18 months ago.

Lads mags? Are they even a thing any more?

Yes on eBay, Nuts it's called, no idea why when they have almost naked women plastered over the covers. Boobs would have been more appropriate, unless they're describing the people who buy it of course...

God, how sad.
How old is he?
I can remember the heyday of those mags there were so many of them, Nuts, Zoo, FHM….
Cringe.

How old is your DP ?

What does his Mum have to say about this sexist rubbish arriving at her home?

How odd, I never noticed that they haven't been a thing since the early 2000s. Used to be on top shelf with sealed plastic wrapping.

OP, I'm not minimising how you feel - but stuff like that is likely to be tamer than anything online I would have thought.

But yes, ick.

CaffeinatedSeagull · Today 07:50

What’s his reasoning for buying them @TDR35?

I know people who buy things from their youth for nostalgia reasons…but that would seem a lame excuse for this.

You’re thinking of porn mags. Nuts, Zoo, FHM etc were ‘mid shelf’

The later ones had to be wrapped in ‘modesty’ bags due to campaigning people did.

N.b I’ve never bought a copy, but we did cover it in media lessons.

He's having them sent to his Mum's house? Sounds decidedly odd!

Dire behaviour. He may as well move back there and get eggy bread when he’s poorly.

Grim

HatStickBoots · Today 13:07

Is he going to pop round to his old mum’s and lock himself in the bathroom for hours too? Will she be making him cups of tea?

didntlikeanyofthesuggestions · Today 13:10

It sounds like he is interested in them for sentimental reasons. Is he an antiques collector? Will he be reselling them?

CanterThroughChaos · Today 13:12

These lads mags were in bad taste and ridiculous but fairly mainstream with no complete nudity. Could it just be a strange hobby collecting them?

Nuts ! Zoo !
That's a blast from the past.
I used to work in a newsagent so read just about every magazine going.
If you ignore the boobs I remember those mags being quite funny.
Much more interesting than make up tips and "ten ways to please your man" over in Cosmo.
Or child abuse stories told in a awful way over in "Take a Break".

I used to buy Nuts, Zoo and FHM and send them to my ex and his colleagues when he was in Afghanistan - always had a read of them first though 😂Some of the articles were actually quite interesting!

Shock You can criticise top shelf magazines, mid shelf magazines, men who “read” them and people going back to their mothers all you like but please leave eggy bread out of this!

Sunisgettinganewhaton · Today 13:51

The logical thing to do would be to send his stuff there with him.. She can have her teen ds back.

Really though all of these titles are/were dire.

However, I used to find cosmopolitan unintentionally hilarious. I do remember reading in a man’s mag some story about a model who apparently used to wear her high heels in naked at home.
