Ugh! Dp buying more lads mags and having them sent to his mum's house so I don't discover them like I did 18 months ago.

My friends husband used to have a stack of playboy magazines in the bathroom. I sent her a copy of playgirl from the states. He was furious. She thought it was funny, I thought it was grim. I love that women won’t put up with this sort of shit any more.

A girl I used to work with won “High Street Honey” in FHM, it massively changed her life.

I don't know what surprised me more - the fact that you can still buy 'lads' mags' in 2026, or the fact that he would use his mother as a front. Ill put my hard hat on here and admit I had a monthly subscription to FHM from 18 yrs old to when it finished in 2016 and still have mostly all of them in chronological order.

I was only thinking the other day watching my boys reading the weekly and whiz pop bang how much actual good information and aspiration I got from FHM as a Northern lasd in a rundown town.

Articles on fashion, travel, exercise and sports, recipes and sex and relationship advice. I wondered if their revival would actually combat the toxic manosphere that replaced it!!

I better check my statement, see if I got the subscription to “International Spanker” cancelled.

Can you tell me exactly what these mags are about then? Maybe I've got the wrong end of the stick, after all they have naked women on the covers so I assumed they were just naked pics of women inside? I object to him, and any man, objectifying women which is exactly what this does.

GQ had class.
FHM was a middle ground - some women but also great articles.
Loaded was for ‘lads’ - think lots of Hollyoaks actresses in bikinis, beer, football.
Nuts and Zoo basically women not wearing much. Grim.

If I remember correctly despite the covers being women in underwear/bikinis the inside was silly articles, naff jokes and football.

@TDR35 here is a screenshot of a typical contents page of Nuts (Zoo would have been very similar - despite being rivals the magazines were almost identical).

They are (were?) essentially the female equivalent.

They weren't porn mags.
Actual porn mags can only be sold to over 18s and from the top shelf.
Zoo/Nuts could be sold by the checkout in supermarkets (next to the female equivalents like Heat magazine).
