Away with family, no bedroom so sat in bathroom

need a reality check
away with family. I have no bedroom, my partner and I are sleeping on sofabed in living room of holiday let. Busy day, toddler late to bed as husband allowed a late nap, I am sat ‘chilling’ in bathroom on my phone as have no private space of own. Is this ridiculous or do I need a head wobble?

Is there a reason you can't sit in the living room, it must be more comfortable than the bathroom.

CarrierbagsAndPJs · 21/02/2026 20:11

Where is the toddler sleeping?

I mean only you can decide if the location or the people you're with are worth the difficulties you're having with the accomodation.

Glitterballofdreams · 21/02/2026 20:13

Go to bed with your toddler if you feel that exhausted. If not, check yourself and get back out there. The night is young, make the most of being away

ThiagoJones · 21/02/2026 20:14

Who is paying and why did you pick accommodation with not enough bedrooms?

FeelingALittleWoozyHere · 21/02/2026 20:14

Oh i feel you OP. I need quiet time every so often on trips like these and would struggle without my own space

cherrymauve · 21/02/2026 20:15

Why can’t you and DH sleep with toddler?

Split between everyone present
i I booked it and somehow booked the wrong one from the options so agreed on sofa bed. Felt right thing to do at time and didn’t mind until now!

Me too, so I’d always pay the extra to
ensure I had my own bedroom!

If everyone is in the living room, which is your bedroom, can't you sit in one of their bedrooms until they need it?

Lindy2 · 21/02/2026 20:17

Have a bath.

If you're sitting in the bathroom then have a nice relaxing bath. Put the phone down though.

pilates · 21/02/2026 20:17

Sounds awful how long have you got left?

Why didn’t you nip to Argos and get a travel cot, you and DH sleep in the twin beds and toddler in the cot, they can’t be that noisy but ear plugs are easily available….

Hiding out in the bathroom

How long are you away for? Someone downstairs cooking dinner? Or did you do that too for everything, and washed and dried up to?

Why is hiding in bathroom being a martyr?
I was in need of some quiet time / bit of a breather and have no private space of own

You’re being a bit silly OP. You can’t hide out in the bathroom

If you need a break / rest, go to toddler’s room, otherwise go back & be part of the evening.

So what. Toddler can’t help it and you can all cuddle up.

Toddler’s room.

They can’t be that noisy, if you just want a break.
