Away with family, no bedroom so sat in bathroom

need a reality check
away with family. I have no bedroom, my partner and I are sleeping on sofabed in living room of holiday let. Busy day, toddler late to bed as husband allowed a late nap, I am sat ‘chilling’ in bathroom on my phone as have no private space of own. Is this ridiculous or do I need a head wobble?

Told husband to keep toddler awake in buggy while I was off with others, no I wasn’t there. ‘He looked sleepy’

you “told” your husband how to care for his child whilst you went off with others. Nice.

You have to know your limits. In my 20s I used to enjoy trips with friends where we'd all sleep in one room and then all of a sudden I didn't want to do it anymore. No idea what changed but it was own room all the way from then.

How about “right everyone I want to go to bed now so please clear out the living room as I need to pull the sofa bed out”
would be what I’m saying! Without a shadow of a doubt!

At 10pm … on holiday 😳🤣

EleanorReally · 22/02/2026 07:11

that is why it is good to have a dog, so you cann take the dog out
or you can at least go for a walk
everyone needs a bit of space sometimes

I’m going to guess you haven’t ever been away with a group of friends or family before @Besidemyselfwithworry

I absolutely have and I don’t think this is unreasonable at all
very selfish of all the others to be honest
none of my family / friends would be that rude

You’d turf a group of friends on holiday out of the lounge at 8pm (when op started thread) so you can go to bed?

or even 10pm when you posted

Yeah if I was tired I absolutely would and if they were good friends they’d understand, I don’t understand why people would be so selfish to be perfectly honest. 10pm is hardly 7:30 is it?

But personally I’d never book shared accommodation place where someone had to sleep in the lounge especially not the parents of young kids - maybe just a lesson learnt here about what works and what doesn’t - it’s not just about having somewhere to sleep it’s about personal place, somewhere to get changed etc… OP said she’d not realised but I bet she’ll check in future!

well given you’d kick out friends on holiday from the lounge, I’d say that is very very sensible!

Why have so many people been arseholes on this thread?
Criticising her parenting, claiming her toddler can’t be noisy, wanging on about the booking when the OP has already said it was a mistake. Then someone saying she can’t like her family if she doesn’t want to spend time with them.

Yes, there were options she hadn’t done like sitting in someone else’s room or having a bath.

I genuinely think even the most reasonable and innocuous thread will have people turning up being rude just because they can. It’s pathetic.
