Gone on everyone make me feel better.

Dp been with him for 15 years and told for valentines day has bought me a kettle, cookie cutters, and mugs. All these where panicked bought last night when I went to bed from amazon which I have a wish list on for when someone asks what I want for my bday etc.

Iv told him to send them back I dont want them and tried to explain people break up over things like this and was joking about it wasnt mad at all.

He's now in a mood with me for telling him to send them back. And the more I think about im getting angry.

Cheer me up tell me the best and worst you have been gifted from your other halfs

We just did cards and I bought a box of chocolates for us to share

gingeristhenewblack43 · 14/02/2026 12:38

My ExH once gave me a note in a V Day card offering to pay for a tummy tuck as a gift. I was 2 months post partum.

CarolwithoutanE · 14/02/2026 12:40

My Ex never bought me anything for V day ever. I am now remarried, not been with ex since 2012. My DD came home with chive and gin for me for V day off her dad. Very fucking weird.

ValentineSchmalentines · 14/02/2026 12:41

Not V Day but for my birthday he once bought me all the kitchen utensils (fish slice, palette knife, potato peeler, etc) that hang on a rail near the hob. At no time had I requested these!! 🤨
So, for Xmas that year, I bought him a drill... Which HE hadn't asked for.

He never did that again!

CheddarCheeseAndCrispSandwich · 14/02/2026 12:42

My VERY ex husband once bought me an iron for Valentines Day! A fucking iron!!! He was so proud of this as well 🤯 We had only been married a couple of years and I’d just had my daughter a couple of months earlier…why in gods name would he think I’d want a sodding iron!

We were separated before our third anniversary…not solely because of the iron, but that didn’t help his cause much!

Valentine's Day is a load of old crock, but if you have a kettle on your wish list then what is the problem?

The kettle isn't on my wish list neither is the cookie cutters or mugs. My wish list is a £2 face mask, hair dryer, led face mask and a tub of sweets. Wouldn't of had an issue if it was on my wish list.

I think these are pretty good presents I genuinely don't see the problem?

For me its the lack of thought put into it, our cupboard is full of mugs, kettle works, and the cookie cutters i have loads already that I dont use. Don't get me wrong hes bought my stuff before that iv thought wtf but could see the effort this is just zero effort and when iv looked on amazon they all where in the lighting deals which he looks in every night for himself zero thoughts and zero fucks given by him. To top it off he didnt even make a coffee for me when he was making one and was using the very working kettle

Ah, OK. Well, it is a but rubbish then. My partner doesn't buy me anything but I don't expect anything - to me it is an irrelevance. I think you can judge how much someone loves you by their actions, not what presents they give you. Maybe you are feeling unsatisfied with your relationship overall.

I had told him not to get anything as money is tight and I'd rather watch movie tonight once kids are in bed. I have bought him somthing little but its still not arrived (ordered 2 weeks ago) which hes been mentioning he needs (belt which i got personalised with our initials). I just wish he put effort into picking somthing even if it was a note book which was in the shopping basket that I added the other day and forgot to buy

Nothing but that was because I insisted we follow the cultural rules. Valentines day is a day for the men and my day will be next month called White day. Last year he bought me super expensive chocolates and Mikimoto earings♥️.

Odiebay · 14/02/2026 13:43

He got me a big bunch of white flowers and a separate bunch of tulips and a card. I will pay for our takeaway tonight. That's how we have always done it. A little bit of effort goes a long way!

Mumteedum · 14/02/2026 13:55

My valentine's presents are lovely. A bunch of flowers, some prosecco and some Turkish Delight from M&S which I love..... And I bought them all for myself 😘

Haven't had a man for th last 6 years. Last one managed a £1 card from Morrisons. The exh bought me a dozen red roses on our first ever year together. By the last year together, he got angry at the mere thought he should perhaps get me a card.

It's far better now.... Oh and I just had a lush cupcake and coffee on my own, sat in the sunshine!

Afkettle · 14/02/2026 14:15

I'm glad there are some people out there that think. I'm very jealous of everyone's flowers and chocolates ngl.

I may of made matters worse as he decided he was going on a bike ride while im cleaning. So I said oh was going to make us a brew with the working kettle we all ready have. Petty I know but it just slipped out

I have received a half dead bunch of those cheap roses instead of longstemmed ones. My partner has been going on about valentines as we are going away tomorrow. He also got me a card which looks like wall paper with a usual impersonal message which was more tolerable with a good bunch of flowers. I guess we won’t be having sex tonight then lol

KitsyWitsy · 14/02/2026 18:27

Wish lists are dangerous. I use mine to put all kinds of stuff I want on it. So last year for Christmas I got some chopping boards and an accessory kit for my robomop. I swear to god men have NO common sense at all!
