Haven’t seen the email. He says it’s because of websites he was on in the past, but says not this one.

Just that. He text me the name as he was apparently trying to Google it. My hackles went up so I asked and got the above explanation

The only acceptable way out of this is for him to show you the 'marketing email' that he received from them. Doesn't actually exist ? If he deleted it In disgust it will still be in his deleted items folder. If he says he clears that out daily; he's bullshitting you.

Even if the email exists and it's innocent I'd be questioning why he's being targeted for that sort of very niche marketing and how they acquired his email address.

Can you ask to see the email he claims he was sent?
If he says hes deleted it, okay, ask to check the trash. If it's totally gone id say he's lying.

The exact same thing happened to me. Same site. He was playing around with men and the only way that site works is via signing up. So sorry.

Nah, all sounds like BS to me, and those kind of ‘random’ emails only go to people who have been knocking around those kind of sites in the first place, none of this makes any logical sense, he’s sadly up to no good here.
