I found an engagement ring!!!!!

ThisMustBeMyDream · 03/07/2024 12:00

After almost 7 years together and hoping that I'd get a proposal... I've just accidentally found the ring!!!!!!!! Putting his flaming underwear away, stuffed at the back of the drawer! Of course I looked... tried it on... it's exactly what I'd wanted and is my size! I'm overjoyed! But annoyed I found it too!

I can't tell anyone of course... I have to keep it all in! But... ARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! I'm just so freakin' excited!!!!!!!

I really hope he does it soon... he knows I don't do flashy, public things. So I'm hoping it's romantic and just the two of us, or just our family (we both have children from previous relationships). He knows me so well though so I'm sure it will be lovely. He's a teacher, so I'm guessing something might happen over the summer holidays 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞. Or perhaps it could be later this year near my 40th. I'm guessing it won't be for my 40th though, he wouldn't do it then. But he might do it around that time.

Sorry for all the exclamations marks! I'm a little excited as you can probably tell. Grin

Wow, how rude.

JustCantBeBothered · 03/07/2024 18:52

Wow, some of the people on here tonight... is it a full moon or something 🧙🏾‍♀️

OP, I'm so happy for you 😄 I hope it's a special proposal for you, it sounds like you've really turned the last few years around and you deserve so much happiness.

Zebedee999 · 03/07/2024 18:55

I love the ring. And love your excitement. Best wishes for a very happy engagement, wedding and life together :-)

Mostlyoblivious · 03/07/2024 12:52

How exciting!! I found mine too and tried it on once or twice before he finally proposed 😂

When I was coming up for retirement I was looking in the depths of the garage for something and saw a lovely steamer chair in its box. On the day I retired I came home to find it set up in the garden with a bottle of fizz by its side and I managed an astounded face. I never told him, ever.

It sounds like a really lovely ring. Definitely need a photo when it's on your finger OP.

On her finger officially!

Chartreux · 03/07/2024 19:00

ThisMustBeMyDream · 03/07/2024 14:53

It is indeed! It's actually much nicer than on the photo! It's Dainty which is what I need for my poor sausage fingers!!!

That's so pretty, OP.

I love my engagement ring, but I'm a bit jealous of that one.

JudgeJ · 03/07/2024 19:01

Yippiddy · 03/07/2024 15:36

That's lovely but why the flip are you putting his undies away. 🫣

It's a beautiful ring. I'd wear it and not worry about it too much. You can replace the stone if it gets chipped or scratched.

Surely in a family situation each person does what needs doing, such as putting the washing away, I wonder who does jobs outside the home, eg gardening, there's more than the domestic stuff to do.

JudgeJ · 03/07/2024 19:02

SummerTimeIsTheBest · 03/07/2024 16:39

DH puts away my pants, I put away his. It just depends on whose turn it is to empty the washing machine 🤷‍♀️ It’s called being in a normal, loving, partnership.

You and I are far too sensible to MN!

Alltheyearround · 03/07/2024 19:04

Woo hoo! Excited for you. Picture once you have said yes : )

That's a cool thing to discover when putting dry pants away.

Ignore the haters. Ring sounds beautiful and I love the name inclusion.

Why do people have to be so horrible and negative on a happy post?

Because some people are just fucking vile, miserable bitches, as demonstrated on this post!
Genuinely disgusted by some of the comments on what should be a lovely, happy thread....how sad are these people that they have to try to drag people down with them?

Op, your ring is absolutely beautiful, and I wish you and your future husband nothing but love, luck and happiness 💍💖

Incidentally, I've been with DH over 30 years....we know our skillset and it works for us, just like it seems to work for you xx

PinkPanther50 · 03/07/2024 19:29

Loving your excitement! I can’t wait to hear he has proposed. Beautiful ring too xx

Nottherealslimshady · 03/07/2024 19:30

I love this! Go get a manicure :)

Thetroutofnocraic1 · 03/07/2024 19:39

So many nasty people on this thread ? Do some people just leave their boyfriend’s underwear lying there when they are putting away a wash ? Or segregate everything. Sounds pretty tiresome to me. Congrats to you op!

Cangar · 03/07/2024 19:43

I’ve only read OP’s updates which make her out to be a lovely and very resilient person. If you’ve posted a shitty message on this nice positive thread I think you should take a real look at yourself.

congrats OP hope it’s all you wish for

Psspsspssssss · 03/07/2024 19:43

How exciting - I'm here for the proposal and ignore the negative Nancy's

To cheer you up OP.....
DH ordered my ring online ( it was also one I'd shown him a cat paw shaped watermelon stone) and when the box came it had she said yes on the label.
😪

Pretended I didn't see it but the the wait was unbearable, took 7 months he proposed on our first date anniversary! I hope it'll be much sooner for you

Inamechangedjustforthis · 03/07/2024 19:48

Yes, exactly. The passive girlfriend, desperate for a proposal after seven years, a passenger in her own life at almost 40 years old and a parent, putting away her presumably able-bodied boyfriend's boxers. How do people live like this?

You. Giant. Arsehole.

Testingthetimes · 03/07/2024 19:49

Can’t wait for the update! It’s lovely to hear - especially after how horrendous your first marriage sounded- that you have someone that you are this excited to marry.

BagFullOfNoodles · 03/07/2024 19:52

I just put DHs clean pants away, take my feminist card and ignore that he did five loads at the weekend including ironing the school uniform and putting everyone's laundry away including my knickers

TheLastTimeEver · 03/07/2024 19:54

Can't wait for the announcement @ThisMustBeMyDream - so lovely! My money is on the kid free trip away.

Im divorced and with my new partner 3 years. Im still a romantic (and a feminist) and hope for a proposal and ring at some stage too. He made a wonderful job of choosing some stunning pearl earrings for a landmark birthday. So I’d trust him on ring choice.

Enjoy hugging this lovely secret to yourself 😀😀

SmellsLikeMiddleAgeSpirit · 03/07/2024 20:01

Fabulous ring... hope the proposal is imminent, OP!
Ignore the bitch brigade.

ThisMustBeMyDream · 03/07/2024 20:07

He's home, and I'm pulling my best poker face ever! I'm wafting around playing my best Taylor Swift love songs 🤣🤣🤣🤣. He's making dinner. Oooops. I mean he's making his. I'm making mine. Coz I'm independent like that 🙈

Oooh. A fun sponge. How nice.

she’s HAPPY. It’s her life, not yours.

butterpuffed · 03/07/2024 20:12

You sound very resilient , OP , not the sort to let some vile posters get to you . Good for you 💐

Exciting times for you ahead , you never know when it'll be !!
