I found an engagement ring!!!!!

ThisMustBeMyDream · 03/07/2024 12:00

After almost 7 years together and hoping that I'd get a proposal... I've just accidentally found the ring!!!!!!!! Putting his flaming underwear away, stuffed at the back of the drawer! Of course I looked... tried it on... it's exactly what I'd wanted and is my size! I'm overjoyed! But annoyed I found it too!

I can't tell anyone of course... I have to keep it all in! But... ARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! I'm just so freakin' excited!!!!!!!

I really hope he does it soon... he knows I don't do flashy, public things. So I'm hoping it's romantic and just the two of us, or just our family (we both have children from previous relationships). He knows me so well though so I'm sure it will be lovely. He's a teacher, so I'm guessing something might happen over the summer holidays 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞. Or perhaps it could be later this year near my 40th. I'm guessing it won't be for my 40th though, he wouldn't do it then. But he might do it around that time.

Sorry for all the exclamations marks! I'm a little excited as you can probably tell. Grin

Agree that it is very identifying, especially as OP also shared her SD’s first name.

And she's shared the hotel where they're in holiday!!!

I'm getting really fed up of this thread! Please take it down, it's fucking stupid😠

Who pissed on your chips? Just unfollow it for fuck's sake.

Felaku

She posted thinking it would be a short thread but others have projected their romantic ideals onto her - and she now feels obliged to carry this thread on out of politeness

Very much agree with this part of your post.

Imo, the OP didn't know how long this would run and it seems that some people are getting angry with her because they're bored with the story now and want to fast-forward to the end.
Real life doesn’t work like that.

diddl · 14/08/2024 12:22

I'd also thought about the plane flight home & then announcing it when Op says yes.

Or is he too private a person for that Op?

This would be desperately attention seeking, I can't imagine many people wanting this sort of thing!

CatrionaBalfour · 14/08/2024 12:27

@Wishimaywishimight my sister was on a flight where this happened - she was on her way with her boyfriend to his mother's funeral. They understandably didn't feel like joining in all the hoopla, nor have the glass of champagne handed round. Sometimes when people make things all about them, to the extent of involving strangers, they forget that strangers may not want to be part of it.

Well no, it wouldn't be for me & if OH had done it it would have been a no as he wouldn't have known me at all!

We leave Friday evening 🥺.

Don't wish your holiday away x concentrate on enjoying it and redo your nails just in case

GreenClock · 14/08/2024 12:29

I’ve enjoyed this thread, I love the ring, and he sounds like a lovely man who you richly deserve, but I think you should get it deleted OP.

Someone will recognise you all and there’s some personal stuff on there about his family and your DC’s health.

Poor bloke. I hope she never tells him.

It seems so bizarre - But then we never bothered with getting 'engaged'- we just got married!

Maybe he has got ''pieds froids'' .

Sounds a stressful holiday with tantrumming kids.

The proposal at the Olympics made me want to vomit as well😁

There are lots of threads on this site I don't like but I wouldn't dream of commenting as you have and thinking my own view should be projected on to everyone else when there are lots of people who don't share the same opinion.

What was that? I didn't see it! I've heard of a man proposing to his girlfriend at someone else's wedding.

diddl · 14/08/2024 12:31

Maybe he knows she knows so has decided to wait until they get home?

Pookerrod · 14/08/2024 12:33

I can envisage a scenario whereby the SD’s mum sees this thread (especially if it’s picked up by a paper) and goes max at all the personal and identifying details of her’s and her daughter’s being shared 😬

Wishimaywishimight · 14/08/2024 12:33

@CatCatrionaBalfour Oh goodness me, how awful for them. I know people get carried away with their own lives and excitement but assuming everyone around you is in an equally happy situation is more than a little tone deaf.

Yeah, agreed

I know. My sister said it was just awful. The couple just got carried away and expected the whole plane to join in.

Once he does ask you, and presuming you say Yes, will you manage to keep the secret forever or will you tell him at some stage, Actually darling, half the world was on tenterhooks waiting for you proposal!, and show him this thread???

Was just thinking that, I'd be mortified if I was going to do something so personal and then find out every little detail and all my holiday etc was being discussed by randos on the internet!
There's even a pic of him (back of him, but still)

Definitely!!

Name, picture of step dad, location of their holiday, etc. it's not good at all

SeriouslyWorriedEars · 14/08/2024 12:39

Is the OP the same person as the allotment woman? Now there was someone who loved the limelight
