I found an engagement ring!!!!!

ThisMustBeMyDream · 03/07/2024 12:00

After almost 7 years together and hoping that I'd get a proposal... I've just accidentally found the ring!!!!!!!! Putting his flaming underwear away, stuffed at the back of the drawer! Of course I looked... tried it on... it's exactly what I'd wanted and is my size! I'm overjoyed! But annoyed I found it too!

I can't tell anyone of course... I have to keep it all in! But... ARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! I'm just so freakin' excited!!!!!!!

I really hope he does it soon... he knows I don't do flashy, public things. So I'm hoping it's romantic and just the two of us, or just our family (we both have children from previous relationships). He knows me so well though so I'm sure it will be lovely. He's a teacher, so I'm guessing something might happen over the summer holidays 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞. Or perhaps it could be later this year near my 40th. I'm guessing it won't be for my 40th though, he wouldn't do it then. But he might do it around that time.

Sorry for all the exclamations marks! I'm a little excited as you can probably tell. Grin

@ThisMustBeMyDream how long is your holiday? Do we have to wait 2 weeks for him to ask you?

Misogyny much?

Nails done to match the pink in the ring! This might be the last photo of my ringless hand!! 😍😍😍😍

i don’t see any sausage fingers in this picture. I do see a pretty hand waiting for a very pretty ring to be placed on the “ring” finger. 👰🏻

Have a wonderful trip. Sigh. How romantic (and I don’t care how old-fashioned that sounds).

Misogyny much?

Ah jeez it's the sackcloth and ashes poster back.🤣

Ffs it's Friday night let a little smile play around your gob

Charlottescobweb · 09/08/2024 21:11

My brother held onto his ring for 11 years and then broke up with her. I feel more gutted for his ex girlfriend than him. It sounds as if your boyfriend has put some effort in so hopefully he is waiting for a romantic opportunity to ask you.

Clafoutie · 09/08/2024 21:16

If people are against the idea of women waiting for a proposal, etc, fine, that’s your opinion and you’re entitled to it, but it is important to the OP! That should be the end of it. The OP didn’t ask us to debate whether it is an anti-feminist issue, but simply to share in her excitement, which happily many are.

Jesus Christ, I do all my families washing, all of it and I REALLY REALLY don't mind doing it. Do cohabiting couples really separate their washing incase you accidentally break the feminist rule book and wash a pair of your husbands pants? How depressing a way to live.

Mumsnet is BONKERS about this shit @protectoroftherealm. I need to hand back my feminist badge because I put my husbands socks in the drawer Confused never mind that he does all the stuff I dont want to like the bins, mows the lawn, spider remover, unclogs the drains...nobody ever says POOR MAN clutching their pearls. Surely people just do whatever needs doing, it doesn't make me less of a feminist because I wash his pants.

I found 4+ years ago when my OH of 52 years died very suddenly that there were jobs I'd never done and a lot of them involved being outside on the cold and wet, Christmas lights for example, what a chore. The first time I put fuel in the car I sat there unable to find the opener, usually he refuelled and I went in to pay. Chucking socks into an open drawer seems fairly minor!

See, I'd be paranoid that he would go "Hmmm, you don't normally wear that colour. Have you been rummaging through my pants?".

(Just kidding - I'm on tenterhooks with everyone else!)

GameOfJones · 09/08/2024 22:26

Don’t you ever EVER tell him you found it. Not even if you’re married for SIXTY FIVE YEARS!!!
Let him forevermore think that he surprised you!

I completely agree. Never, ever tell him that you found it. I would be really gutted in his shoes if I found that out.

ApolloandDaphne · 09/08/2024 22:30

Ooh exciting. I hope he does it sooner rather than later!

Edinlassy · 09/08/2024 22:42

So invested in this now!! Enjoy your special moment op x
