I found an engagement ring!!!!!

After almost 7 years together and hoping that I'd get a proposal... I've just accidentally found the ring!!!!!!!! Putting his flaming underwear away, stuffed at the back of the drawer! Of course I looked... tried it on... it's exactly what I'd wanted and is my size! I'm overjoyed! But annoyed I found it too!

I can't tell anyone of course... I have to keep it all in! But... ARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! I'm just so freakin' excited!!!!!!!

I really hope he does it soon... he knows I don't do flashy, public things. So I'm hoping it's romantic and just the two of us, or just our family (we both have children from previous relationships). He knows me so well though so I'm sure it will be lovely. He's a teacher, so I'm guessing something might happen over the summer holidays 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞. Or perhaps it could be later this year near my 40th. I'm guessing it won't be for my 40th though, he wouldn't do it then. But he might do it around that time.

Sorry for all the exclamations marks! I'm a little excited as you can probably tell. Grin

This. The miseries are best ignored and not given any attention. There is enough hardship and sorrow in this world as it is. Let's all feel ( and spread) the joy, not to mention the love. Got my fingers 🤞 that it will be soon too. Keep us posted OP♥️🙂

I agree, there are some people who take pleasure in sucking all the joy out of any situation. The only conclusion is that they have very sad, pathetic, meaningless little lives of their own and they can't bear to see anyone else being happy.

I hope the holiday is wonderful and you come back with a lovely sparkle on your finger.

RichPetunia · 09/08/2024 05:47

Hi OP, have a great holiday! You really are a joy! Good luck and fingers crossed for you x

BlueBlahBlah · 09/08/2024 05:55

Exciting! Enjoy your holiday, whether the ring joins you there or not

Well, it's the night before our holiday! Cases mostly packed. Ring still in its "safe place" 🙈. Getting a little anxious that he isn't bringing it! I've still no idea how he'd sneak it in...
But he did just do a totally random thing when I walked downstairs after painting my nails, of asking me how they look and getting me to show him. So, that has potential! He has literally never noticed my nails in his life. Let alone asked how they looked after painting them!
Sadly the budget doesn't stretch to getting them done properly, so I hope he asks pretty soon before the chipping inevitably begins!!!
I'll check one more time tomorrow morning. If its still there then I shall assume he isn't bringing it and be somewhat gutted. But then again he may have something else planned that he knows I'd prefer more... arghhhhhhhh! The suspense is now killing me inside!

Don’t you ever EVER tell him you found it. Not even if you’re married for SIXTY FIVE YEARS!!!
Let him forevermore think that he surprised you!

CompleteOvaryAction · 09/08/2024 06:24

I'm weirdly invested in this. Have a great holiday, which I am sure you will. I love your joy which shines through your posts - it's uplifting just reading them.
I guessed my DH was going to propose as there was a hard, box-shaped bulge in his pocket when we set out on a walk. But by the time he had marched me to the top of a hill I was so exhausted I had forgotten all about it so it was still a surprise when he got on one knee. Hope you have a "surprise" too.

AgentProvocateur · 09/08/2024 06:34

I’ve just read this whole thread, waiting for the post when he asks you! 😂 Beautiful ring. I hope you have a lovely holiday whether or not “it” happens and that he proposes very soon!

Beetlejoos · 09/08/2024 06:49

What a wonderful thread, so full of joy that I’m beaming for you! It’s a giveaway if he’s noticing your nails! You sound very in love and what you mention about what he does for you and your family - well, he’s a keeper. Hope you have a great holiday 😄❤️💍

MrsPerfect12 · 09/08/2024 06:51

Well, as I work part time and him full time and it's my day off... I've done cleaning, chauffeuring my kids around as one is on high school taster days and errands. I've taken an hour to myself to chat to a friend. I've made the kids dinner, and done reading and music practice. Made the packed lunches. He's still at work. When he gets in, he will take over. He will make our dinner, do dishwasher, wash any dishes that need doing, and take the kids to their clubs later.
Pretty sure that's all just ordinary stuff. They aren't even his kids but he will be taxi after a very long day. He won't do anything for himself. He is up at 4.45, bed at 8.45. He works damn hard. I'll not begrudge putting his pants away (well, mostly! Sometimes he has to put them away!).

OP, this is MN. How dare you admit to having an equal split of labour!? And tidying up after the man who lives with you, while he does childcare, totally unreasonable!!

You should see the looks I get from some of my friends because I usually pack up DHs lunchbox for work. While he is doing the 2 year olds teeth and getting himself ready to leave for his hours drive, and I'm making my own lunch anyway.....

Sounds like you're in a happy relationship, and it's about to take the next step. Good luck and (hopefully) congratulations x

Fannyfiggs · 09/08/2024 07:10

Oooh how exciting. I hope he's sneaked it into his hand luggage ❤️

mechanicalpencil · 09/08/2024 07:20

That is a lovely ring OP! 💖
Thank you for posting a little ray of sunshine amongst all the current gloom

Muffin101 · 09/08/2024 07:21

How exciting!! And how lovely to be so happy and in love 🥰

C1N1C · 09/08/2024 07:31

Do not EVER tell him you found the ring... don't tell friends, don't tell family.

If I was the guy in this situation, I'd have been building this up in my mind, planning it, getting excited myself. If it comes out that you snooped and ruined the surprise, (sorry, you didn't have to open the box!), I'd be massively deflated.

Think of that feeling when you're watching a movie together, or telling someone a joke, and you expect them to be all excited or laugh in the moment, only to find out that they've heard it all before.

Beautiful ring though!

VanLife33 · 09/08/2024 07:32

🤞❤️

Purplecatshopaholic · 09/08/2024 07:46

Ooh this is so exciting! And it’s a lovely ring op. We want to hear all about it when you have time to update

WickWood · 09/08/2024 07:52

So exciting!!

harriethoyle · 09/08/2024 07:59

@ThisMustBeMyDream my DH smuggled my engagement ring on holiday, had it in the inside pocket of a jacket which went through the scanner, then swam around ALL DAY with it in his swimming trunks pocket because I was engrossed in my book on day 1 and didn’t propose until sunset 🤣🙈 so it’s totally feasible to take your ring on holiday without you knowing!

Jaboody · 09/08/2024 08:10

Placemarking

Nomdejeur · 09/08/2024 08:10

Please don’t let it spoil your holiday if it doesn’t happen. He may have planned to do it another time.

ThisOchreLemur · 09/08/2024 08:11

BusyCM · 03/07/2024 12:02

Let's hope it's for you!
