I found an engagement ring!!!!!

After almost 7 years together and hoping that I'd get a proposal... I've just accidentally found the ring!!!!!!!! Putting his flaming underwear away, stuffed at the back of the drawer! Of course I looked... tried it on... it's exactly what I'd wanted and is my size! I'm overjoyed! But annoyed I found it too!

I can't tell anyone of course... I have to keep it all in! But... ARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! I'm just so freakin' excited!!!!!!!

I really hope he does it soon... he knows I don't do flashy, public things. So I'm hoping it's romantic and just the two of us, or just our family (we both have children from previous relationships). He knows me so well though so I'm sure it will be lovely. He's a teacher, so I'm guessing something might happen over the summer holidays 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞. Or perhaps it could be later this year near my 40th. I'm guessing it won't be for my 40th though, he wouldn't do it then. But he might do it around that time.

Sorry for all the exclamations marks! I'm a little excited as you can probably tell. Grin

Eeek that’s so exciting! The opposite of the Sex and the City plot where Carrie finds the ring and despises it 😄

Oooooo what's it like!!!!

He might be holding on to it for a friend?

SwedishEdith · 03/07/2024 12:12

I never understand these adult women "hoping for a proposal". Especially "putting his underwear away".

It is not your life, people are different. Do you.

StripedTomatoes · 03/07/2024 12:21

It's probably been in there for six years a while, I don't think I would get my hopes up.

ThisMustBeMyDream · 03/07/2024 12:29

We've not been in a position to marry until now, so although I've been waiting 7 years, it's nothing to do with him not asking! But the complexities of blended families and putting DCs first. If that's okay?!
It is definitely for me as I showed him this exact one once. He also hasn't had it long as I put washing in there a few days ago! And yes, I put washing away, he looks after my additional need kid and his sibling every single school holiday. What can I say, it's give and take isn't it?! I think I get the better deal 🤣.
The ring is lily green amethyst and pink sapphire with a white gold band (I chose it because it had his daughters name in it, I thought it was really fitting and it's my two favourite colours that I wear all the time). I'm guessing that's how he remembered which ring I liked!

I know him well enough to know if he has bought it, it won't be years before he does it!

I'm excited for you, and I don't even want to get engaged! 💍

Marzipan23 · 03/07/2024 12:33

thats so exciting!!!!!! please come back and post when he does do it and tell us all about it! I was with my now husband for 10 years before he proposed and we could not be happier! I felt like we really knew each other and we had been through so much before we got married that it made it feel more special.

ignore the negative people, some people aren't happy unless they are tearing other people down! yawn.

gingercat02 · 03/07/2024 12:47

How lovely 💍 we need photos when it's on your finger. Sounds like a very unique ring

PumpkinPieAlibi · 03/07/2024 12:47

Congrats OP 🎉 That sounds very exciting

Just one tip coming from someone who reads a lot about gemstones - amethyst is a 7 on the Mohs scale so while it's generally hard enough for daily wear, you do have to take it off if you're doing anything that might scratch it, such as cleaning and exercise and be careful of banging it on hard surfaces as it can scratch or the facets become worn down over time.

Oh amazing! Thank you for that advice, it's really helpful! I can't wear it for work (nhs) so I was planning on a special necklace that it clips on to for occasions where I can't wear it. I'll definitely do this now as I excercise and clean (too much of both probably!!).
