The ick - how to break things off

Just this weekend I've got the ick with a man I've been casually dating for the last 6 weeks. We finally got round to dtd over the weekend, but for reasons I won't go into we didn't. What a let down. He could get it up, so that wasn't the issue.

There were some other things too - poo related 😳 And I'm just not feeling it.

How do I break it off gently? Dwindle text communication so that he gets the idea? I don't want him to think this is just sex related. Life is so busy at the moment too and I just cba, I'd rather stay single.

Come oooooon

I've learned something new!! Sharted Grin

pinkdelight · 24/06/2024 01:27

Text him "I'm dumping you because of your dumps."

Angelsrose · 24/06/2024 01:59

Ghost. If poo is involved, there is nothing more to say.

Reminds me of an old friend who met a very good looking charming man when we were out together actually and started dating him. All went well till they got to the dtd stage and she invited him stay over at her flat for first time. She cooked a lovely meal, candles ,wine etc etc. All was perfect till they moved to the bedroom, she went in the bathroom then got in bed first and then he went in bathroom (which was next door to bedroom) to presumably also 'get ready' for bed.
But instead she could hear him taking a dump and thought ah well if you've gotta go you gotta go and the joys of thin walls etc. etc. cant be helped.
Before she had chance to turn over to muffle the tmi sound effects slightly he was eagerly climbing into bed. He had flushed but that was it, no running taps or shower just flushed, not even washed his hands let alone anything else.
She feigned a headache and an early morning urgent call from a 'relative'me then rang him that day to finish it.

I told ex it was probably a good idea if we didn't see each other for a while. That was 30 years ago and I've not seen him since.

but I'm really here for the poo story

MummyofTw0 · 24/06/2024 04:01

Well? Don't leave us hanging

Mummyoflittledragon · 24/06/2024 04:15

Just text him.

Parliing · 24/06/2024 04:18

Some really gross posts.

Hope you’re OK Op.

I’m sure you’ll find a reasonable reason/way to finish things … you want to be single again etc.

HazelBite · 24/06/2024 05:41

I think we need to flush out the details here

Twiglets1 · 24/06/2024 06:10

Tell him the relationship has gone down the pan

Hoglet70 · 24/06/2024 06:19

OP! Come back and tell us! I will be checking this all day today and not getting any work done.

Also, after 6 weeks, ghosting him is a bit horrid. Texting isn't great really but better than just disappearing.

merrymelodies · 24/06/2024 06:26

Had he not wiped his bum?

Just text him, say you aren't compatible but good luck then block.

Men with no boundaries, manners and poor hygiene need to be thrown back.

I mean if it was me I'd tell him why, do the next woman a favour Grin

Pancakeorcrepe · 24/06/2024 06:56

Omg I need to know. Tell us please

Beautiful3 · 24/06/2024 07:09

Just tell him, he's a nice guy but you don't feel right for each other. He deserves an explanation, ghosting is a horrible thing to do. It's only been 6 weeks so he's not going to be devastated, he'll just say okay.

FuckTheClubUp · 24/06/2024 07:15

Why are people dying for more information regarding the poo situation? It’s rather strange.

Just call him and tell him that you’re not compatible and you wish him the best

Bridgertonne · 24/06/2024 07:19

Don’t ghost or phase him out, text and say you’re not feeling it/are incompatible.

WolfStar · 24/06/2024 07:49

A text for an established relationship would be awful but I think it’s ok if it’s only been 6 weeks and ‘casual’. A phone conversation will probably feel a bit brutal for him, I think I’d prefer a text in these circumstances.

If he’s a good guy and you like him send him a carefully worded message explaining you enjoyed his company, his sense of humour - whatever, something positive - but that over 6 weeks you’ve come to realise you aren’t compatible. Maybe find something to focus on that isn’t bed related or say you’ve realised you’re just not ready to take it further.

I think you can probably be kinder with a well crafted message than with a swift call that will probably feel incredibly awkward for both of you.

WineGumm · 24/06/2024 07:50

I need to know what happened…💩
