Notifications switched off partners phone

I have just noticed that Lock Screen message notifications are completely switched off my partners phone. So when he receives a message and his phone is locked it doesn't show up at all that he's received a message. This wasn't the case before. I asked him about it he said he hasn't changed his settings. He has changed the settings because it wasn't like that before. He said I am creating a problem out of nothing. What shall I do?

why would you notice?

Me0 · 29/04/2024 21:56

He asked me to see if my son had replied to him about what time he wanted picking up, because he was holding our sleeping baby, so I opened the phone, noticed my son had messaged him and noticed it didn't show on the screen when it was locked, so thought it was weird and looked at the settings to see that they are set to make sure no message notifications come through if it's locked. He swears blind it's always been like that and he hasn't changed it. It definitely has not always been like that.

Is it WhatsApp's? Only as my WhatsApps don't appear on my locked screen anymore, I have to unlock the phone, and the notifications are turned on. It's pretty annoying

TTPD · 29/04/2024 21:59

You sound like this is making you suspicious, but if he's done it to hide something then he wouldn't have asked you to go into his phone to check for a message.

My phone doesn't show notifications for iMessages when I'm wearing my Apple Watch, but does when I'm not. I've no idea what setting I've changed, because it doesn't show on my watch either, but other notifications do come through but I guess I've done something. It could be a mistake or a fault.

alloweraoway · 29/04/2024 21:59

some of mine do, some of mine dont, I dont change anything, and I really dont care, and I really dont get why you care

alloweraoway · 29/04/2024 22:00

I turn off notifications if I might get arrested. But otherwise, they turn themselves off sometimes anyway

Me0 · 29/04/2024 22:00

No, he's had the notifications for WhatsApp off for a while and so have I for the same reason. He has completely and utterly denied changing the settings, they have definitely changed.

BusyCM · 29/04/2024 22:00

So? He's allowed any settings he wants on his phone. Why do you need to do anything?

What notifications then? And what reason?

How often is that a possibility..?

WhatsApp - so many groups for the kids sports and they're really annoying and constant. He's switched his i messages notifications off. All the others are on. Just found it so strange that he lied and said he had changed the settings. He absolutely has.

Has he changed his password too? If so, maybe he's hiding something. If not, maybe his phone had a software update or maybe he just changed the settings for a bit of a breather from notifications and forgot, or felt embarrassed or similar.

Arrested? I don’t understand

If you are arrested and the police have your phone, you don't want them to be able to read your messages, do you. And if they show up on the locked screen, they can.

ManchesterBeatrice · 29/04/2024 22:08

Yeah I did this, it's for my privacy, I wouldn't want someone seeing my messages or any emails, or anything like that.

I'm in a happy and faithful relationship.

booktokbear · 29/04/2024 22:09

Do you think he's having an affair or something op as it's strange to stress about otherwise.

I have no idea how my DH's messages come through, and I don't care. You seem very stressed about it though.

FawnFrenchieMum · 29/04/2024 22:09

I would assume it’s happened during the latest update. Honestly doubt someone hiding something would ask you to read a message for them and you clearly have their passcode to access the phone. Doesn’t sound like someone with something to hide to me.

I have found it I leave my phone in messages / what’s app and it auto locks, it doesn’t then send a notification. I’ve missed messages this way in the past.

Mostlyoblivious · 29/04/2024 22:09

Auto update on Apple? Accidentally changed mode on the Lock Screen?

TTPD · 29/04/2024 22:10

Just found it so strange that he lied and said he had changed the settings. He absolutely has.

But as several people on this thread have said, sometimes notifications don't show up and no one has (knowingly) changed anything. I'd be pissed off if my DH insisted I was lying about changing the whatever setting it is that's stopping my iMessage notifications from coming through when I'm wearing my Apple Watch.

He asked you to check his messages, so clearly his password is the same and he doesn't mind you looking at it. So I don't know why you think he's lying.

UnderGreenGrass · 29/04/2024 22:10

The issue here hasn't got anything to do with his notifications settings - it's to do with the fact you don't seem to trust him.

DistinguishedSocialCommentator · 29/04/2024 22:10

Sadly, the mobile phone is often the first clue/s to deceit, I hope I'm wrong, OP

Mine only show the content if it’s my Face ID though. Just says ‘2 new messages’ if anyone else picks it up.
