Splitting up over student finance

I’m in bits. Dp of 5 years who lives with me will not allow me to add him to DD student finance application. The rules say I have to give his details as household income. The only way out I can see is that he moves out and we are over.
i am heartbroken and would like a hand hold please.

My daughter applied for student finance about 8 months ago and received it and no one asked me or my husband for any further information @DietrichandDiMaggio

Did she apply for more than the minimum loan, because there is nowhere on the student application to input the household income, so how would they know what you earned? As a previous poster said, the student gives the contact details and the parents/adults each receive an email asking them to register and submit their income.

@Mementomorissons how many years ago was that though? Now you have to prove that you've been estranged for at least 3 years.

Wow. It sounds like there are far more problems in your relationship if he's willing to move out and break up over this after 5 years together.

I lodged with another family when I was applying for student finance and I just filled out a form to say I was "estranged from my parents and they weren't supporting me". When in actual fact I wasn't estranged.

Maybe she could do the same?

These days a third party has to confirm that you are estranged, giving details. That includes confirming no or negligible contact with your parents. You can't just randomly say you're estranged with nothing to support it as your application would be refused straight away.
