If your sibling lives nearby (in my case 10 minutes walk) how often do you see them? Are you close? Is there a normal level?

Just wondering if my situation is normal or not. Should also add we are both adults. Im 39 and they are 44.

My sis lives hundreds of miles away and until recently I’d only seen her once in 10 yrs. The past few years I see her once a year, which is enough for me 😂 We love each other and get along most of the time but even if she was local I wouldn’t want to see her more than once every few months.

We see each other every couple of months on average but text a fair bit as we have a WhatsApp group.

We’re survivors of a traumatic childhood (severe emotional abuse) which has given us a kind of closeness where we look out for each other but are not sentimental / never voice our love and care for one another.

Maybe 3 or 4x a year. He lives 6 hrs away at the minute. Not enough! We haven't always got on, slight golden child situation but are good friends now.

I was a not-very nice older sister (2 years older than my sister) when we were young. Hopefully I have made up for it in adulthood. We live about 2 hours apart, and I very much appreciate her company. We go on holiday when we can...went out with her last night. My parents are now getting older and frailer and I know that we will support each other to look after them. I have kids and a partner, she doesn't at the moment.... I hope that we might live closer to each other when we're old so that we can do things together and support each other.
