Good evening everyone!

I've been a single mum for a while now and would like to meet someone (this year hopefully!), however it feels like a total minefield 🥲

I'm looking for some inspiration so would like to ask, where did you meet your partner?

Doing office temp work.

Twitter, we support the same football team.

Presumably those who met on Facebook have a mutual friend whose post they were both commenting on, I've made a couple of new friends that way. Or they may both be in the same Facebook group.

House party, he put his coat over me when I fell asleep, I woke up in the morning and went to find him to give it back, he was sleeping in the dining room under a christmas tablecloth

In a pub, he was with friends, I was with arsehole ex. Got talking to him at bar about music, swapped numbers and the rest is history. 21 years ago!!!. Cracking guy.

A friend of mine met her bf in a Facebook singles group, and Facebook has (had?) a dating service too, where you set up a profile like on a dating app.

Met my dp of 7y on a cheapo dating website.

Met at a friend’s party. Our mutual friends really worked at encouraging us and smoothing our path! Married for more than 20 years now, and still in touch with those friends.

Graduate school. Married 30 years.

Set up by a mutual friend at a dinner party in the 1990s. The other single guy never turned up as he missed his train connection. The other single girl lived near DH and gave him a lift home and I thought they fancied eachother. But I was wrong! We went out the following week and have been married 30 years.

Online. Had decided this was my last ever date. Planned a quick coffee so I could get home asap as I was sick of OLD. Did not realise it was February 14th. He turned up with a beautiful bunch of flowers. Rest is history, been together 9 years.

I am single but this is always an interesting topic from a personal perspective so this is the list I have compiled on the basis of my friends and co-workers, ranging from mid-late 20s to late 40s. Majority met their spouse while at university or studying, followed by through friends or relatives and/or on a night out (primarily those in their 20s), at work or through work, three on OLD, one at a rural retreat and one through a hobby (choir).
