Need to back out of agreement, scared of losing his respect

Me and DH are very headstrong and stubborn, lately it seems all we do is argue. Its like a constant power struggle.

In a bid to improve things we've decided to go back to nature and fight it out. The kids are away next weekend at their grandmas so we've planned the fight for then.

I have a few years of martial arts training behind me but DH is bigger and quite a lot stronger. As we've been going through the details DH has started putting all these rules in place (like no kicking or punching to the groin) and it seems like he is purposely trying to jeapordise any chance I have of winning or even holding my own which I don't think is fair. Its just another example of his power hungry attitude.

Now I'm starting to think it was a stupid idea and want to back out but if I do it will more or less give him free reign to boss me around and take the piss for months.

Should I just go ahead with it and hope for the best or back out and deal with the fall out?

are you joking?

CaptainKarvol · 06/03/2008 16:46

You are WHAT?!?!

Bobbiewickham · 06/03/2008 16:47

Is this for real?

Just trying to imagine dh and I knocking seven shades of shit out of each other.

Nope. Could not be arsed.

If this is for real, and your dh wants to kick your arse, leave. Really.

What does the winner get?
What's the point? Do they then make all the decisions in a relationship - is it master vs slave?
My first thought was that you are bonkers but I realise I may not know the situation fully.

Scattybird · 06/03/2008 16:48

Thats f**king hilarious, you should really kick him for all of the insults he has ever thrown at you. Go on girl!!

Scattybird · 06/03/2008 16:48

I am assuming that this is a wind up btw.

Lulumama · 06/03/2008 16:49

you are both absolutely out of your minds if you think basically, knocking 7 bells out of each other will help anything, long or short term

what a deeply weird and unhealthy relationship you must have

it is a power struggle, and neitehr of you will win ultimately.

you cannot fight like this with your husband, neither should he fight like this with you

it is giving each other the go ahead to physically hurt each other

could end up with one or both of you hurt badly

go to relate

Twiglett · 06/03/2008 16:50

My favourite line in the whole post is "Now I'm starting to think it was a stupid idea"

ROFL

fab

that's really tickled me

ELR · 06/03/2008 16:50

f**k him play dirty!!

HuwEdwards · 06/03/2008 16:50

lolol!!!!!!!!!!!

what a wind-up!

Lauriefairycake · 06/03/2008 16:51

If this is not a joke then can I just whisper:

"It's not ok to hit anyone for any reason"

VeniVidiVickiQV · 06/03/2008 16:51

The rules should be:

There are no rules
Well, except for no tools.
So yes you can kick in the balls
But I think you are both fools.

The bigger person is the one who can be sensible about the whole thing.

The irony of it all is that the poster is afraid of losing his respect!! As if beating the sh*t out of one another and respect can be put in the same sentence...
