Need to back out of agreement, scared of losing his respect

Me and DH are very headstrong and stubborn, lately it seems all we do is argue. Its like a constant power struggle.

In a bid to improve things we've decided to go back to nature and fight it out. The kids are away next weekend at their grandmas so we've planned the fight for then.

I have a few years of martial arts training behind me but DH is bigger and quite a lot stronger. As we've been going through the details DH has started putting all these rules in place (like no kicking or punching to the groin) and it seems like he is purposely trying to jeapordise any chance I have of winning or even holding my own which I don't think is fair. Its just another example of his power hungry attitude.

Now I'm starting to think it was a stupid idea and want to back out but if I do it will more or less give him free reign to boss me around and take the piss for months.

Should I just go ahead with it and hope for the best or back out and deal with the fall out?

am not sure if i am being overly prissy, but i actually think this is in very poor taste bearing in mind a number of mumsnetters have no choice but to suffer domestic violence

VeniVidiVickiQV · 06/03/2008 17:28

Geri2 · 06/03/2008 17:28

harpsichordcarrier · 06/03/2008 17:29

oh dear god tell me this is a wind up....

Christingle · 06/03/2008 17:32

Its funny... he did mention a rambo costume for a laugh.

I'll be wearing my karate suit and he is going to wear his old kickboxing shorts.

Oh and the person who wins is decided on who gives up first, this is usually because of fitness problems rather than being hurt.

Lulumama, I don't condone domestic violence, there is a difference between two people having a bit of "rough and tumble" and someone being beaten up by an aggressor.

maybe so, but i still think this is in poor taste, although i did think it mildy amusing, but thinking on, i think it is not a pleasant topic to joke about. as i said, it might be me being overly prissy

playfighting is one thing, fighting to decide who is in charge in a marriage just seems wrong to me

bumpybecky · 06/03/2008 21:26

is this part of Cod's challenge?
