Was all set to meet up for a first date with someone i been talking to from online dating
He been txting all week morning & goodnight txts, said he has booked for our date arranged times etc.. whats apped last night
I replied this morning and hes removed his profile pic and theres one grey tick
I had arranged childcare & everything
I give up!!!!!

Lots of blokes lose their bottle and back out of dates. And it's usually single men that do it - attached blokes that are the cheating sort who get as far as arranging to meet are not the type to get cold feet and back out, they're usually far too cocky and confident for that. I know that goes against the Mumsnet narrative of all blokes are married, cheating narcissists, but that's the reality of the matter.

It's still shitty behaviour to just ghost someone, but I guess it mostly happens that way just because it's easier than being honest and admitting nerves got the better of them.

As others have advised - 1st meet should be coffee/daytime. An evening date is a bit too formal for a first rendezvous these days. It's also more likely to involve alcohol (even if it just stars off as one for duty courage), and we all know how a few drinks can affect our better judgement and lower our inhibitions.
