I was two weeks off 39 when my son was born. He’s an only. And I had been married 16 years ....

TheSnootiestFox · 15/03/2020 20:09

In the nicest possible way, you're being ridiculous Grin I had my two at 35 and 37. That said you mustn't do what I also did and settle because I was panicking 😞 that's the biggest regret of my life x

Namelesswonder · 15/03/2020 20:10

I married at 36 then had my DC at 38 and 40, in my group of friends that’s seen as perfectly normal. I only know 3 people who had children before 35.

Pipandmum · 15/03/2020 20:11

Had my first at 41 second at 43. My friend had hers at 46. My sister had one at 45. My cousin had her last at 40...I could go on. All conceived naturally.

cakecakecheese · 15/03/2020 20:12

You're not being stupid but you do need to try not to panic.

I know lots of people in their late 30s who have had children, it can still happen for you.

ceramichedgehog · 15/03/2020 20:13

34 and 36 when the children came along.

mklanch · 15/03/2020 20:13

at my school most of the mums are 45+ so would have been around 40 when they had their first.
don't worry to much, because then you will rush.

Wavingwhiledrowning · 15/03/2020 20:15

Don't panic! 3 DCs here, all after I was 35. There's a big part of me that acknowledges it probably would have been easier physically when I was younger, but mentally I wouldn't have been ready. Don't rush, make good choices.

HLJM04 · 15/03/2020 20:30

....thank you everyone! I thought I was being a bit stupid, especially in this day and age!

Anyone met partners mid 30's for example and had children with them?

Xx

I was in the same situation at 33 and starting to worry. Met a guy the following year and had DD1 at almost 35 and DD2 at 36. I'd go again (37 now) only can't afford it.

Bookworm83 · 15/03/2020 20:45

I'm currently pregnant with my first and I'm 37 years old.

HLJM04 · 15/03/2020 20:47

@Bookworm83 - when did you meet your partner?

OP posts:
VeeBe · 15/03/2020 20:48

Met my husband at 36, married at 38, first child at 40, second at 42.
I like doing something new every couple of years.Wink

Bookworm83 · 15/03/2020 20:50

@HLJM04 when I was 31. He already had a daughter from a previous relationship and I was in no rush to have kids right away.

Blackbelt · 15/03/2020 20:50

This is so nice to hear. I'm 35 and struggling to conceive number 1. Been with my partner, the love of my life for 3 years. So I was single at 32 and starting again. All the best x

Windyatthebeach · 15/03/2020 20:51

I met dh at 41 (he was 31!) and had a dc at 43.2.
Married 5 years and still going strong!!

Youhedge · 15/03/2020 20:52

36 and 39 here.

yesyesdear · 15/03/2020 20:55

Most of my close friends met their partners/husbands in their mid 30s. I met my now DH at 38, first baby at 39, second at 41.

tellmetostopbutikeepongoing · 15/03/2020 20:55

I like this thread 😊

pointythings · 15/03/2020 20:57

Met my husband at 25, got married at 30, had first child at almost 33 and second at almost 35.

It did all go gigantically tits up, but that was for reasons irrelevant to this thread.

LittleBoyJuly2020 · 15/03/2020 21:09

I'm 37, met my partner when I was 32. I'm currently 21 weeks pregnant, everything going great, healthy baby.

I also have a 20 year old so wasn't expecting to do it all again. I've realised anything can happen and change in a few short years!

Tilpop · 15/03/2020 21:14

I've just turned 39. Married DH at 34 started trying straight away then found out I couldn't have children. ( I never knew this when I was young) Three and a half years of operations drugs etc we had our first round of ivf and our son is due in July xx

YRGAM · 15/03/2020 21:20

Not stupid at all. In our NCT group of 10 couples my wife was probably the youngest there at 32

Musti · 15/03/2020 21:22

I had 4 kids between the ages of 33 and 40. 2 partners

Bezalelle · 15/03/2020 22:37

I met DH when I was 37. I'm now 39 and expecting our first child in August.
