Husband showering - AIBU

So if husband is going into the office on a normally weekday he'll shower as soon as he gets up and be ultra fresh, aftershave the lot. If he works from home or on the weekend, he'll often get up without showering, walk the dog, work in kitchen if a work day or weekends lounge around, do jobs in house, mow the lawn, play with kids, and unless we are actually going out somewhere he won't have showered and start his day fresh and ready until the afternoon. He will do everything first then shower later. Am I being unreasonable? I find it quite unattractive and wonder why he can't just start each day showered, fresh and ready, like I do!! He says he gets grubby jobs done then showers once he's done them, sorry but walking the dog doesn't make you sweat, nor does doing general bits around the house, just have a damn shower!!! Why don't I get the fresh aftershave smelling husband at home that the office get? Lol

Yes or just hot shower and not do jobs either like my ex h and then also complain when I didn’t feel like sex.

LuxLuxLux84 · 08/03/2020 20:07

Not shower, not do jobs , expect me to be horny for him.

LolaLollypop · 08/03/2020 20:08

I'm getting images of Hyacinth Bouquet in her purple cardigan and pearls Grin

I only shower at the weekends when I'm leaving the house. Otherwise I'm slobbing around in my pyjamas for pretty much the whole day. What's the point in showering then doing odd jobs/DIY? You'd only have to shower again later when you go out. Unless he has a body odour issue I think YABU OP.

I haven't showered at all yet today! You'd think I'm a proper grubber Blush

JKScot4 · 08/03/2020 20:17

Why would you shower BEFORE walking the dog and mowing the grass? You’ll just need another one. Stop being so uptight.

thequeenbeyondthewall · 08/03/2020 20:18

I like getting showered after I have blitzed the house on a Saturday.

Just get all sweaty cleaning otherwise.

Love finishing the house, getting a shower and putting on nice fresh in the house wear (ironed Jamas or freshly laundered lounge wear type stuff or a good old trackie).

thequeenbeyondthewall · 08/03/2020 20:18

I shower every day not just on a Saturday Grin

Can't believe anyone is defending the op here. This is classic controlling behaviour and if it were a bloke he'd be getting a mauling right now

ILLBESUZIE · 08/03/2020 20:23

He's normal. You're controlling.

goodytooshoes · 08/03/2020 20:44

Perfectly normal. I actually prefer my husband's natural scent.

thequeenbeyondthewall · 08/03/2020 20:45

Maybe the op is getting to that stage where things that didn't bother them before now literally make her want kill him 🤷🏻‍♀️.

I feel like that now when my DH makes toast and gets crumbs on the black cooker where he just has a plate for "show" but doesn't actually use it to stop crumbs going all fucking over everything when he butters it and eats it.

Never bothered me till this year. Now I internally fume as soon as I hear the toaster get popped down.

You would die in our house, OP. Today DP got up to feed the cat at 6.30, then came back to bed. Both of us slept til about 11, lay in bed for a bit, and DP made bacon sandwiches which we ate in bed. DP had a shower as soon as we got up, but I pottered about doing bits and pieces, and had a bath about 4. I didn’t even get dressed, just put on new pyjamas. On weekdays I am up at 6.30, showered, dressed, makeup, hair, out by 8. It’s the weekend!

mamato3lads · 08/03/2020 23:46

@positive80

He showers and preens before work because he's outside the home and that's generally what people do when going to work and interacting with others

At home, he can relax and chill, forget routine and shower when he wants!

Really odd that this would be a cause for concern, poor fella Shock

MotherofDogs3 · 08/03/2020 23:59

Iv never showered in the morning and im a 27 year old woman! I like a shower at night before bed. Sometimes i even skip a day if im being lazy 😳 i work from home doing beauty treatments and i certainly never smell just because i dont wake up and jump straight in shower 😂 why do people care when there partners shower? Aslong as they shower who cares? Mine is a builder and also never showers in the morning he has one when he gets home from work and on the weekends he showers when ever the hell he wants! i really dont envy your poor husbands 😂

Shinyletsbebadguys · 08/03/2020 23:59

My DP does the same as your dh , your comments are really over the top, do you honestly believe people live in muck ridden lives because they shower a bit later in the day a couple of times a week? Seriously ? You know that's a really unhealthy attitude to cleanliness right?

I would totally agree with you if your dh didn't shower at all that day but good lord, you actually reference why he cant do what you do? That is rather controlling.

Well you asked so no ita not odd, DP showers shaves etc before work but showers or batches later in the day when not in work or working at home sometimes. He also walks the dog. Does that help?

Actually I suppose of I stop to think about it I'm rather pleased hes comfortable enough to do that. He feels the need to present an image at work (this is a conversation we have had ) but at home he feels more comfortable.

Unless you are drip feeding and it turns out your dh also rolls around in a pig pen then tries to hug you , , Then yes alright I'd give you that one.

LuluJakey1 · 09/03/2020 00:07

If DH is going to do some gardening or go for a run, I hose him down on the patio beforehand with dettol in the feeder container on the hose so he doesn't exude an unpleasant stench. Then after he has finished the physical task he has a hot shower with soap and a shave before going out with me and the DC
