I was going to namechange for this but ah what the hell!
Ok so here it goes, I met a lovely French man six weeks ago. He is courteous, considerate, kind, sexy, funny etc. You may be asking what the problem is, well.............he never shuts up! Sorry that's a bit blunt but it is basically true.

I'm myself blessed in the gift of the gab dept but feel if I don't "pardon the pun" say something that this relationship won't go anywhere, unless
I zone out and keep nodding and umming in the right places, which I'm already starting to do. Can anyone advise me on how I can sensitively approach this with him?

TIA

Oh God, now I'm paranoid that when I next meet him, I'll keep thinking of this thread and will lol at inapropriate moments.

Every time he opens his mouth, put your fingers to your lips and stroke his bollocks at the same time. Stop stroking the minute he starts talking again.

Like Pavlov's dogs, he'll eventually make the connection.

GibbonInARibbon · 24/07/2007 20:10

yes...he may chill a little over the coming weeks and notice it's a one way conversation

GibbonInARibbon · 24/07/2007 20:11

Desi, I don't know what's more alarming, the hilarity of your last post or my serious consideration in actually doing it!

Desiderata · 24/07/2007 20:22

... or did he die

ggglimpopo · 24/07/2007 20:22

Is he talking french or english? If he is talking english, stop him every couple of seconds and correct his grammar, intonation or diction. If that doesn't work, smile and put his hand on your heaving bosom
.

I find both tactics work with Frenchmen, but I use only the former tactic with my bil.

There again, if my dh corrected my French often, I'd divorce him.

I do find that Frenchmen have their compensations though.....

MhamaiJane · 24/07/2007 20:23

Well not off exactly but his french/a tiny bit of Kilkenny accent doesen't quite reach some of the English words iyswim.

MhamaiJane · 24/07/2007 20:26

Oh ggg he really does!!!!! If only I could get him to talk more there we'd be away in a hack!
