I was going to namechange for this but ah what the hell!
Ok so here it goes, I met a lovely French man six weeks ago. He is courteous, considerate, kind, sexy, funny etc. You may be asking what the problem is, well.............he never shuts up! Sorry that's a bit blunt but it is basically true.

I'm myself blessed in the gift of the gab dept but feel if I don't "pardon the pun" say something that this relationship won't go anywhere, unless
I zone out and keep nodding and umming in the right places, which I'm already starting to do. Can anyone advise me on how I can sensitively approach this with him?

TIA

Ok, just wanted to do a quick update. I phoned him last night albeit after a few glasses of wine. Anyhoo, after making a slightly sozzled reference to his yapping, he said that he himself knew he'd been going on a bit as he was nervous, we've spoken again today and he is glad I approached the subject. He has promised to slow down. That's about it really.

Ooops - this is an old thread. Bet you'll come on here now to say 'I dumped him'

It's a compliment.

He's parading his intelectual/conversational prowess. This peacock/feathers or weightlifter/sleveless shirts or banker/porsche and you'll be in the ball park. He's probably imagining himself in a black polo neck discussing sartre in a parisian pavement cafe.

It'll settle, methinks.

Is he talking french or english? If he is talking english, stop him every couple of seconds and correct his grammar, intonation or diction. If that doesn't work, smile and put his hand on your heaving bosom
.

I find both tactics work with Frenchmen, but I use only the former tactic with my bil.

There again, if my dh corrected my French often, I'd divorce him.

I do find that Frenchmen have their compensations though.....
