Tell me if you had children later on/after 37? I'm scared it is too late

I'm 32 and I want a family. I focused on my career all my life and relationships took a back seat. They don't these days, but in the last couple of years i've not been so lucky with men!

I'm scared it is too late and it is all my focus now. If I knew i could have children in say, 4 years, I would totally relax (i know that's always an unknown for everyone). I'm just scared.

Has anyone got any happy stories to share?

Christ love, half the women on here had kids hitting 40. Or after it. Including me. I didn't even want kids yet at 37!

Fizzymama · 19/06/2018 21:03

A friend of mine had her first child a 42.

DickensianHysteric · 19/06/2018 21:03

Of course it's not too late. All being well, you've got a good ten years.

LJH79 · 19/06/2018 21:03

Had my second at 36 and all fine. My bestie has jut had her second at 39. My colleague had her last two in her early 40’s. All babies were fine.

It is an unknown and it took us a while to get pregnant but many friends have fallen pregnant straight away so you just never know. Just relax. 32 isn’t that old and still time to find someone x

TheFirstMrsDV · 19/06/2018 21:03

I had one at 40 and one at 43.
It has its advantages and disadvantages but you are not even 40 yet!

lizzedays · 19/06/2018 21:03

Thanks for the reply. I don't actually want kids right now. I want a few more years of enjoying the life i have built. But if it was that or kids I'd take the kids this second!!!

All my friends (bar one) have kids and all started to have them in their twenties.

I had my only DS (4) at 39, no longer with his father and it was my last chance. Know that now as on HRT at 43. Knowing what I know now, I would seek a sperm donor if no real relationship imminent.... He's the ligjt of my lifeSmile

3 kids, aged 37, 40, 42 at their births I would say it does get harder, though!

Jux · 19/06/2018 21:13

I had dd at 41.

Joy69 · 19/06/2018 21:19

I had my kids at 34 and 38. I act and feel younger than some of the younger parents.
Also have a very open relationship with the kids & am quite laid back (they do have boundries)
It depends on your outlook on life Smile

SadieHH · 19/06/2018 21:24

Had mine at 36 and 40. All fine and dandy!

Itchyknees · 19/06/2018 21:26

Had 3 kids between 37 and 40. Knackered.

Twickerhun · 19/06/2018 21:28

I had mine at 37 and 39. It hasn’t been easy but the problems are nothing to do with my age. In some ways it’s good as I have a well established career and a great maternity pay package and I’ve done all my worldly wanderings for now so I’m happy to settle down. But I’d do wish I had a little more energy....

Mokepon · 19/06/2018 21:31

First baby at 30. second at 40.
It's been massively easier this time around, although I appreciate that's not the case for lots of people.

NecklessMumster · 19/06/2018 21:31

Pregnant at 39 with first born, 40 when born, second child 13 months later at 41.

Wonkypalmtree · 19/06/2018 21:34

I had my first at 38, sadly after years of trying since and multiple losses not had a 2nd. Crack on

Namelesswonder · 19/06/2018 21:37

Married at 35, first baby born when I was 37, second born when I was 40. Conceived quickly both times. Both easy, healthy pregnancies. Not unusual!

Oly5 · 19/06/2018 21:39

three kids when I was 35, 37 and 41. I did start looking for Mr Right aged 33 though... do get out there and get dating to give yourself a good chance of meeting the right person. You’re right to be aware of this and not just turn around aged 38 panicking

MMmomDD · 19/06/2018 21:39

OP - if you have money - freeze some eggs.
Will give you a peace of mind.

And - good luck.

ByeMF · 19/06/2018 21:39

Had ds at 39. Uncomplicated pregnancy and easy home birth. Just enjoy life.

NerdyBird · 19/06/2018 21:39

had my dd at 37. My friend had her second at 41. Lots of people have them late 30s and beyond these days

surferjet · 19/06/2018 21:40

Ds born when I was almost 37. Easy pregnancy & only took 3 months to get pregnant.

OhForCodsHake · 19/06/2018 21:40

I had mine at 35, 39 and 41. Don't panic! Smile

MumofBoysx2 · 19/06/2018 21:42

Keep yourself healthy and you'll be fine. I had my first at 36 and the second at 39. No problems whatsoever!

Foodylicious · 19/06/2018 21:43

I always wanted a family, then as I got older did start to worry when the maternal urge to start would happen
30th birthday came and went, then BAM! At just over 32 it hit me like a truck.
Had my first at 34 (ttc not straight forwards) and am now 24 weeks pg with #2. Will be 39 when he/she arrives.
