Normal or not normal?

So as not to drip feed. DH works away much of the time, back once a month, normally for 3/4 days.

Today he went out to see a friend for a drink. I wasn't hugely impressed (he sees plenty of his mates and has plenty of time to himself where he works). But I agreed, as long as he's back to help with bedtime (DCs are little).

So he comes home, as the kids are getting into bed (too late for bath etc), and he's banging on the door (didn't take keys). I didn't go rushing down because I was getting kids into bed, but as I get to the door - he was only there a minute, two tops, I open the door to find him pissing against the doorstep. Literally through his trousers. He's basically wet himself.

He doesn't seem pissed but then he's been out for hours and he's a massive lightweight. Think he could be hiding it well.

The pub by the way is approx three minute walk from the house.

Is this normal? I'm pretty hacked off but more concerned that's not normal? Can't most people hold it? Or anticipate that they need a piss before they leave the pub if it's that urgent?

it happens

category12 · 31/03/2018 19:35

Normal for a drunk person. What else are you thinking it might be?

Angelf1sh · 31/03/2018 19:35

Of course it’s not normal!

Iooselipssinkships · 31/03/2018 19:36

It definitely happens.

MamaDuckling · 31/03/2018 19:36

I don't know - my dad has prostate problems and has started wetting himself... at 70. Just don't think it's normal to piss yourself after 'just a few'?

Yes it's normal if you are bursting. I use to live in a tip floor flat and as embarrasing as this is when I was heavily pregnant a few times I didn't make it upstairs without wetting myself as I use to have a baby in a pram to pull up aswell so it took me a while to get up. I imagine if he was bursting and you hadn't Opened the door and normally when you drink it goes straight through you. I wouldn't be giving this a second thought.

category12 · 31/03/2018 19:39

I imagine he had more than a few.

Quartz2208 · 31/03/2018 19:45

If you are v v drunk yes normal if not no

TalkFastThinkSlow · 31/03/2018 19:47

I've done that, after a big session in London then it took me 2 hours to get back home. Managed to stop once to pee but it wasn't enough. I literally peed all over the doorstep Blush

MamaDuckling · 31/03/2018 19:48

Hmmmm yeah I mean it's happened to me, on one or two very very very rare and VERY drunk occasions. He was only gone a few hours, and he's not pregnant. He must have been putting them back.

The pub is literally a few doors away

PrettyLittIeThing · 31/03/2018 19:51

Not saying that he is pregnant Incase that wasn't obvious more that it can happen if you are bursting. Not everyone can hold it. Although abit weird if the pub was a few doors away.

MamaDuckling · 31/03/2018 19:53

I'm jesting, Pretty Wink

DH and I have historic and BIG issues with his drinking. Perhaps this is why I'm rather grumpy and unimpressed. Also, gross.

I think you can safely be furious without worrying he's ill.

niceupthedance · 31/03/2018 19:56

In my experience only people who drink a lot on a regular basis wet themselves.

MamaDuckling · 31/03/2018 19:58

Category - exactly that.

Jesus... everyone thinks that is normal and acceptable? It's absolutely disgusting - what is he, four years old that he can't stop himself from pissing in his pants on the door step?

BrioLover · 31/03/2018 20:05

Definitely not normal. How can people think it is?!

category12 · 31/03/2018 20:09

I didn't say anywhere it was acceptable or the OP should be OK with it.

But for some people, it's their normal to get very drunk and pissing themselves is presumably an unfortunate, but acceptable consequence to them.

Gemini69 · 31/03/2018 20:11

that's NOT normal FFS.... Hmm who are these drunk individuals 'pissing' themselves at the mere sniff of alcohol ?

MamaDuckling · 31/03/2018 20:14

I have a 4yo and a 2 yo. I get his help for three days a month.... the last thing I need is him posing himself too.

Glad I'm not alone in thinking this definitely not normal.

I've got a really weak bladder. I once pissed myself on a tube platform. I'd only had a pint and a half of lager.

MamaDuckling · 31/03/2018 20:15

He doesn't have a weak bladder. I know he's been drinking loads recently. Makes me worry even more that he's spiralling again.

0hCrepe · 31/03/2018 20:17

I would not be impressed. Why did he keep his trousers on?? I’ve suffered from front door making me suddenly bursting all my life but I’ve never actually pissed through my clothes.

MamaDuckling · 31/03/2018 20:17

I don't know what to do. I just tried to explain that I'm not very happy, and why. He walked off, "you never see it from the other side". I told him to try my side. The full time parent, who doesn't get to fucking socialize, ever.

I have two more days with the fucker that will likely now be spent with us both sulking.
