do you do EVERYTHING in front of your dh/dp? no feminine mystic?

Its probably a ridiculous question but was just wondering if we are maybe a little too comfortable in front of eachother.

I do everything in front of dp - some of this is really embarrasing/ disgusting but: have a wee, squeeze a spot, scratch my bum..(why again am I sharing this?..)wear horrible Bridget Jones knickers etc... some even more disgusting but not saying. So thought is every couple like this after so long? would it not be so lovely to retain some of that feminine mystic you have at the beginning of relationship? that possible you dont seem as attractive to eachother...

I know that I may not find dp as gorgeous as I did at the beginning - when I watch him pick his nose (and not care that im looking) or when he doesnt bother to lock the bathroom door cos he doesnt care if I walk in on him having a poo...

this does'nt make me want to pounce on him...
im annoyed with myself for not keeping up the bit of mystery - Ive heard of women only wearing pretty underware in front of their men, locking bathroom door incase he comes in to see her in that unappealing position, waxing her bikini line while to be honest, I dont care if he does!!...just very comfortable around each other.

sometimes I think it would have been nice though... has anyone done this?

dh was at 'the business end' for both births so i dont think i have any mystery about me anymore!
he has seen parts of me even i have not seen! lol

LadyOfTheFlowers · 13/03/2007 17:51

he does not see me poo, but everything else he has.
since having kids that is. i was private before.

tinkerbellhadpiles · 13/03/2007 17:58

My DH and I use the bathroom as a 'time out' spot away from each other and our demanding DD

God knows what we are going to do when she starts potty training....probably build a third bathroom.

Oh and my leg and pit hair keeps me warm so I'm keeping it.

Kathymcm i am having hysterics at the thought of your dd doing daddy poo impersonations!

hoolagirl · 13/03/2007 20:04

Ooooh nooo, I would be horrified.

I would only if I had to pee in front of him.

Nothing else, the bathroom door is locked when im in and im not interested in what he does there either.

Still trying to keep some mystique!

Oh, im lying again, he has squeezed the odd spot on my back, in fact he practically insists on it.....

morningpaper · 13/03/2007 20:07

I don't poo in front of DH, that's all

Hathor · 13/03/2007 20:08

Sturdy at your dh relaxing in the bath with the Screwfix catalogue.

morningpaper · 13/03/2007 20:10

Actually I really HATE him seeing me on my hands and knees scrubbing the floor

It makes me want to kill him, for some reason

whywhywhy · 13/03/2007 20:13

once your dh has given you perineal massage for nights on end and cleared up after your home birth there isn't really much mystique to be maintained.

And skidaddle don't worry I don't think you're gross!

morningpaper · 13/03/2007 20:20

I remember when I was 3 days post-birth with baby1 I walked into DH who was on the sofa and cocked my leg and said "Hey! It doesn't look that awful!" and the look that crossed his face ....

Well frankly I'm amazed he's not gay

shimmy21 · 13/03/2007 20:35

draw the line at poos and mooncups (mind you - crossed just about every line possible in labour)

but why on earth not shave your legs (or armpits) in front of your dh/dp? I just don't get that. Legs aren't rude are they? Or is it supposed to be a secret from the male half of the population that female legs aren't made smooth and shiny?

Is it ok to put on deodorant in front of dh or is he not allowed to know that I have armpits?

LiliAnjelika · 13/03/2007 20:41

DP starts every day by saying that he's going for "a shit and a shave". He doesn't give a monkeys if I walk in on him and he sometimes doesn't even see the point of flushing. What a hunk!

I won't poo in front of him, or anyone else, though the absolute worst would be pooing in front of mother.

The only other thing I don't always share is the occasional private 'me doing me' moment, if you know what I mean.

I do everything in front of dp, I feel completely comfortable with him and I know he finds me sexy regardless of the fact that I will wee while he is cleaning his teeth before bed (and visa versa)

NotanOtter · 13/03/2007 20:54

REALLY shocked at this

NEVER changed tampons WTF????????

I prefer not to poo in front of dp ( although often do)and he certainly does poo in front of me

Everything else YES!!!

He has waxed my bikini line....checked me for worms (YES!!!) ....inspected my bits on various occasions for a multitude of ailments..etc etc

I DO put nice undies on for him and do makeup and hair for him but he sees the WHOLE me in all its un-glory

MascaraOHara · 13/03/2007 20:55

'yes I've changed tampons in front of him - he has even taken them out himself as a prelude to sex ' - snap, lol

Iota · 13/03/2007 20:56

blimey - I have never felt the need to wee, poo or change a tampon in front of dh.

Do you people who do only have one bathroom?

MascaraOHara · 13/03/2007 20:58

yes Iota.. and I'm so very desperate for the house to finalyl be buiolt when we will have 4 bathrooms... even if I don't mind the intimacy.

NotanOtter · 13/03/2007 20:59

No but dont you people spend time together?

shimmy21 · 13/03/2007 20:59

crikey iota -just how snooty are you? {shock]

Iota · 13/03/2007 21:01

actually I didn't mean it in a snooty way - more asking if it were a question of necessity.

In fact, thinking about it, dh and I only had 1 bathroom for 3 yrs and still didn't need to use it at the same time

NotanOtter · 13/03/2007 21:02

me too mascara!!

Funnily enough i am quite confident in that dp finds me sexy no matter what and we are 17 years on so thats saying something!!

warts and all!

alibag · 13/03/2007 21:04

Reading this thread I am just realising that I have no mystique whatsoever and perhaps should start to develop some.... no private things at all in our house (I do remember being surprised to find DH plucking some eyebrow (monobrow)hairs one day long ago) at least I have stopped changing tampons in front of DS's.... too many questions I don't want to answer yet!
