do you do EVERYTHING in front of your dh/dp? no feminine mystic?

Its probably a ridiculous question but was just wondering if we are maybe a little too comfortable in front of eachother.

I do everything in front of dp - some of this is really embarrasing/ disgusting but: have a wee, squeeze a spot, scratch my bum..(why again am I sharing this?..)wear horrible Bridget Jones knickers etc... some even more disgusting but not saying. So thought is every couple like this after so long? would it not be so lovely to retain some of that feminine mystic you have at the beginning of relationship? that possible you dont seem as attractive to eachother...

I know that I may not find dp as gorgeous as I did at the beginning - when I watch him pick his nose (and not care that im looking) or when he doesnt bother to lock the bathroom door cos he doesnt care if I walk in on him having a poo...

this does'nt make me want to pounce on him...
im annoyed with myself for not keeping up the bit of mystery - Ive heard of women only wearing pretty underware in front of their men, locking bathroom door incase he comes in to see her in that unappealing position, waxing her bikini line while to be honest, I dont care if he does!!...just very comfortable around each other.

sometimes I think it would have been nice though... has anyone done this?

I am the same about fingernails and toenails - it's the only thing I can't bear to do for my children, dh does it instead. It's because my mother used to cut mine too short and they used to sting like f*ck. The idea sets my teeth on edge.

Don't worry Barbielovesken - 'tis better to err on the natural side imo - less of a shock when childbirth comes along

Now that I think about it I can see the point about nails and setting teeth on edge a bit. There was a partner in our old firm who used to do it in his office with the door open and it made me feel quite violated!

BarbieLovesKen · 13/03/2007 15:49

oh my God .. I have been known to cut dps disgusting toe nails for him (I know that sounds awful - im not living in the 50s or his little slave - its just that he suffers from an ingrown toe nail and never manages to cut them properly to avoid this - I kinda insist)

oh I cant stop laughing at myself, I Know its really disgusting now that I give it a good hard think but oh.. I have to laugh.. yuck - whats wrong with us?????

AnAngelWithin · 13/03/2007 15:49

I don't do anything like that in front of him.

However he is immensely jealous of the huge manly burps I can produce And he pulls out my second toenail that I get growing on my little toe lol

BarbieLovesKen · 13/03/2007 15:50

Oh but it wasnt until pregnancy and post childbirth that I began to be this comfortable around him (yeah, like that makes it ok)

Listen I'm so comfortable with my DP but there are just some things that a girl doesn't want to have to do, like apply his pile cream, or have a look to see if they have got any better!

TeeCee · 13/03/2007 15:53

And I told him not to go near the engine room while in childbirth but he couln't resist, more fool him!

BarbieLovesKen · 13/03/2007 15:53

lol teecee!!

ah no, im only messing

So have I!

Ahaahhhhhhh I haven't really

nh101 · 13/03/2007 15:54

Hey Barbie I don't think it's weird, I change tampons in front of DH, always leave the door open when on the toilet (can't be bothered to shut it), and shaving - what's wrong with that?? I draw the line at my DH removing a tampon for me though, skidaddle!

KathyMCMLXXII · 13/03/2007 15:55

We tend to leave the bathroom door open these days in case someone has to rush in and do an emergency nappy change. But I wouldn't poo in front of dh or stay around while he did one (no idea how he feels about it).

However dd (21 months) does do an excellent (I believe) impression of dh pooing. If you say 'daddy poo' to her she will start grunting.

3andnomore · 13/03/2007 16:00

Lol Barbie...dh and I pretty much do most things infront of eachother....I the only think we don't do is poo infront of eachother, but well, that is about it!
Must say, was very grossed out about him seeing me having a poo whilst giving BIrth to ms...I wish he had never told me that...I mean, I didn't even know I had done one at the time

BarbieLovesKen · 13/03/2007 16:08

lol! I was the same - my most worrying thing through pregnancy was the thoughts of pooing in front of him!! ........he says he didnt notice if I did (bless him) dont know though..have doubts

SturdyAngel · 13/03/2007 16:14

I do most of the above infront of DH After a particularly nasty tummy bug while on holiday in Turkey, which involved a sink/loo sick/poo combination, there never seemed any point in doing it all privately in future!
Which is just as well really as my body has the starngest urge to poo just has DH has got in a nice relaxing bath with the screwfix catalogue! I just can't help it!!

nogoes · 13/03/2007 16:23

I have never changed a tampon in front of dh but once when we were backpacking I thought I had one inside and was convinced I had toxic shock so I let him have a rummage around to see if he could see anything [blush.]

nogoes · 13/03/2007 16:23

Oh gross, Sturdyangel!

BarbieLovesKen · 13/03/2007 16:29

nogoes... once again same here

I do everything in front of dh except poo. Have changed tampons in front of him, not invited him to watch, but he sometimes just happens to walk into the bathroom whilst I'm in there doing it.

He has been known to shave my fanjo on occassions too He does a much bettre job than me.

flibertygibbetplus2 · 13/03/2007 16:41

DH & I do pretty much everything in front of each other too. We generally prefer to poo in peace but we do often get caught up in conversations while one of is on the loo! He has seen me change a tampon too, he was curious!

DH has also shaved my legs and sugared my bikini line for me too - and this was before we had kids!

nh101 · 13/03/2007 16:49

Er, does it matter that I do all that in front of DH after only 18 months of marriage (and no kids? PG with first now)

Am I destined for divorce?

expatinscotland · 13/03/2007 16:53

'yes I've changed tampons in front of him - he has even taken them out himself as a prelude to sex '

How romantic!

BarbieLovesKen · 13/03/2007 16:55

Nh101... yes.. im sorry but you are definately heading for divorce.... weeing in front of him? come on... whatya expect!!

but seriously, thank you for all your replies, suppose we're all different but at least its not as unusual as I began to think at the beginning of thread... hey! dp and I are'nt the weirdos I thought we were!!

damnit....

OP posts:
BarbieLovesKen · 13/03/2007 16:57

Lol, this thread has really made me smile...you know, I always thought that we are the way we are well, because he is a Squaddy and I am a Nurse, so, he has been in situation where they had to poo infront of the other blokes and well, i ahve seen pretty much all there is that goes with body and bodily functions, lol!
