Younger women

OCSockOrphanage · 13/12/2016 20:15

DH and I are having a conversation. I said that all men were biologically programmed to prefer younger women, if presented with the invitation. We are 60 and have been married for 25 plus years. He is offended by the suggestion. What's your opinion

That it depends on the man.

MinesAGin · 13/12/2016 20:16

It sounds like you were starting an argument that would only upset you!

Sparlklesilverglitter · 13/12/2016 20:17

Confused Not all men are the same, Each man is different some like younger women some don't, just in the same way I like older men and some women don't.

OCSockOrphanage · 13/12/2016 20:20

DH reckons that the red soft top doesn't mean he's cruising!

Maybe you just wanted an argument?

Men & Women are all individual people and all find different things attractive. They are not all the same, They don't all like the same things

I know a few women that are with much younger men, does that mean I must find younger men attractive too? I don't I like my men older

birdybirdywoofwoof · 13/12/2016 20:20

If two women presented an older man with an invitation to a relationship, and one was younger and one was older, I think he'd probably chose the person he liked more.

If two women presented an older man with an invitation to a sex-only relationship, I think he'd probably chose the person who lived closest to his house. Grin

I see where your coming from OP, that in days gone by it would make sense to look for a younger woman in the interests of procreation.

I also think for this reason we aren't naturally monogamous.

However we are modern and far more intelligent nowadays and so it depends on the individual man or womansomething preferences. So I'm not surprised your DH is offended.

Pinkheart5915 · 13/12/2016 20:23

Yes some men like younger women
Yes some women like younger men

Some men like women the same age or older
Some women like men the same age or older

You see the pattern, People are individuals and don't all like the same things Confused

Also what birdy said

DH is really really enjoying this thread. First time on MN, I am just typing!

The red soft top doesn't mean he's cruising? What an odd choice of phrase you have..... Hmm

Cuttingthecheese · 13/12/2016 20:31

Have you had a few wines op?

OCSockOrphanage · 13/12/2016 20:33

No, SpongeBob... the red soft top is an investment purchase that makes him feel young! TBF, it has gained value faster than money in the bank.

A couple, but it started half serious. Wine for all.

I'm 37yo and male.
My gf is 37yo and female.

If I were to find myself offered anything by a young woman it would likely be help to cross the roads.

BackforGood · 13/12/2016 20:35

I agree with your dh.

Maybe if you asked any of us - men or women - which was the more attractive and showed them pictures of 2 people 25 years apart in age, then you would get more people saying the younger ones are probably more attractive although there will be exceptions . However, "being attracted to" or "preferring to be with" are very, very different.

I know dh wouldn't be interested in someone 20 yrs younger than him..... just think of the time of night they go out / get home again! Shock dh likes to be tucked up in bed by 10.30 Wink

OCSockOrphanage · 13/12/2016 20:39

DH didn't believe that anyone would reply, not really, because he doesn't spend time on MN, so was astonished at the speed and thoughtfulness of replies. This thread was started in light spirit, so please don't take it seriously. It has been a pleasure....

PinkiePiesCupcakes... even us 60yo can cross the road unaided! But this is the country.

Flowers Wine

We need a red soft top smiley!

tribpot · 13/12/2016 20:44

all men were biologically programmed to prefer younger women

You know some men aren't biologically programmed to prefer women full stop?

Ineedmorelemonpledge · 13/12/2016 21:27

My partner prefers older women. I'm 5 years older than him.

MothersRuinart · 13/12/2016 21:41

What about from the point of view that would you like a much older man? Apparently women are attracted to wealthy, powerful older men. Would that be true in your case? I don't think these things are as simple as they are made out to be.

Ellisandra · 13/12/2016 21:50

I would be offended if my fiancé starting telling me that "all" women anything. So I'm with your husband.

Ellisandra · 13/12/2016 21:54

And surely, your husband is proof that it isn't true for all men? Sounds like you married in your mid 30s.
So when he chose you, he could have been with a 25 year old easily:

  1. Because society would have found that acceptable
  2. Because it's easy for 35yo men to find 25yo GFs because ALL young fertile women want older more financially secure men. Hmm

So - why did he marry an oldie like you?! Grin

kaitlinktm · 13/12/2016 21:58

In a way SockOrphanage I can see what you mean - it is a generalisation but you were being lighthearted.

I am a single woman in her 60s and I have given up the thought of dating because all the men my age seem to be looking for women anything up to 15 years younger than they are. I don't mind older men - but at 61 the field is narrowing down quite a bit. Of my circle of friends I can think of only one couple where the woman is older than the man.

However, I can't back this up with any proper statistics.

CherryBlossomPink · 13/12/2016 22:19

True for my STBXH - he's 45 and now hooked up with a 22 year old, despite insisting there wasn't another woman when he left.
