Married with kids and was just wondering how often your husband goes out drinking in the evening after work with work colleagues . What do you consider to be reasonable ? He is in his early 50s.thank you

Only a few times a year to be honest. We're either together as a family or our as a couple. But he's not that fussed so I wouldn't say that's the norm. With two young kinds I would twice a month is reasonable but that's just me.

wobblywonderwoman · 02/12/2016 19:34

Once a year.

GreenRut · 02/12/2016 19:35

Once a week, every week, apart from when our babies were new born or if something comes up that we have to be at. Then every few months there'll be a week where is twice and then at Christmas I might as well give up Grin

wobblywonderwoman · 02/12/2016 19:35

I would feel once a fortnight is reasonable though - we have very young dc

torroloco · 02/12/2016 19:37

I think it depends on your circumstances OP.

If you have older children then I dont see the problem with him having his own healthy social life away from the family- not to be cruel but because I just think its good for people to have friends that arent their family as well iyswim. I honestly dont think its healthy.

However its a different kettle of fish if your talking hes out on the piss all the time while your chained to the sink and putting the children to bed every night

How often do you go out OP?

Eolian · 02/12/2016 19:38

Never. Not because he doesn't like a drink, but because going out for a drink after work doesn't really happen much among his colleagues. He and I more often have a few drinks together at home on a Friday or a Saturday night.

Twittwoo72 · 02/12/2016 19:38

Every Friday or Sunday with his long standing friends and sometimes in the week with his work colleagues. It will be in the region of 75 times a year I reckon.

FearandLoathinginLasVegas · 02/12/2016 19:38

Once a fortnight. He just goes out for a few drinks after work and is back a bit later, so its sort of an extended commute.
I think it depends a bit on whether they work in a city/town or are on the road more. And if they have clients. As if they have to do a client do once a week/whenever then there's nothing they can do.
I think once every two weeks is perfectly reasonable as if he doesn't go out he starts to nag me if i do! Grin

AtSea1979 · 02/12/2016 19:39

I would say once a week is reasonable assuming it's not OTT and he can still function the next day.

Beebeeeight · 02/12/2016 19:39

Affair.

SleepyRoo · 02/12/2016 19:40

Hardly ever. Young kids are hard work so it's not fair to spend lots of time socialising - in my opinion. But it would be different if his job required it i.e. taking clients out etc.

Cookingongas · 02/12/2016 19:40

Never. He doesn't have (or want) friends.

I go out once every fortnight in average.

AndNowItsSeven · 02/12/2016 19:41

Never, but I would say maybe twice a month is reasonable.

Ohdearducks · 02/12/2016 19:43

He's a bit of a homebody so only goes out now and again. His rugby team are always trying to get him out after a match and even if he does go he's usually back before 10pm he just prefers to be home.

lotti37 · 02/12/2016 19:44

He goes out every week sometimes 1 or 2 or 3 times a week . I probably go out once every 3 weeks . He works for a big organisation that's very sociable so someone is always going out .

OP posts:
Doesntfitthemould · 02/12/2016 19:52

Mine never goes out. He works most evenings so his nights off he likes to spend at home.

gamerchick · 02/12/2016 19:55

Rarely, I wish he would! I go out around twice a week though sometimes 3.

jaykay34 · 02/12/2016 19:59

My partner is in his early forties.

He goes out every Friday evening for 3 hours, with his male family members and a couple of friends. It's a bit of a tradition - sometimes my eldest son and nephew join them.

With work colleagues or other friends - very rarely. It's only really for occasions - birthdays, weddings or Xmas Do's. And usually I'm invited too.

Parker231 · 02/12/2016 20:00

DH - never - not a part of his job. Me - often two/three nights a week, depends on where we are at work with different clients.

WindInThePussyWillows · 02/12/2016 20:07

DP and (36) hardly ever but when he does he goes a bit OTT and ends up throwing up and wishing he hadn't gone.
We have 7mo twins and I have an illness. I don't know when I last went out, other than lunch/the odd garden centre for tea and cake.. you wouldn't think I'm 23 Grin

Whathaveilost · 02/12/2016 20:08

Very rarely.
Most week night he is with DS2 as my son trains late into the night with his sport.
We go out a lot together as a family for drinks, meals, gigs, cinema etc but he goes out maybe once, twice a year with friends.
I do encourage him to go out more and our ex BIL askes him to join him and his friends on nights out as they all used to hang round together years ago but he says he's happy doing what he is doing.

dontsufferfools · 02/12/2016 20:09

Never. We only go out together.

Other people don't get it, but we're happy. Neither one of us want to go out without the other.

wittytwitty · 02/12/2016 20:10

With colleagues never - with friends 2/3 times a week.

MoreBushThanMoss · 02/12/2016 20:11

DP is 50. For work? Once in a blue moon. Before DS was born, he'd be in the local 3/4 nights a week for a pint on the way home without me- which I was more than fine with- as would be out pretty much as often - but neither of us would be out all night if out on our own ....

MoreBushThanMoss · 02/12/2016 20:11

Now DS is here?

The local landlady thinks he's dead
