Making my way home. Are you home yet?

Just that really.
How should I understand this question?

We are exchanging messages via OLD website. I haven't given my number yet and he hasn't asked to meet up.
This question is from today... Am I right to be cautious or should I accept it as normal. Am I overreacting?

Does he have your address?

It sounds as though he's texting his wife, tbh.

BoredOfWaiting · 02/11/2016 20:49

It's a completely benign question- unless I'm missing something? What are you worried about?

Inexperiencedchick · 02/11/2016 20:50

No, he doesn't.
I haven't shared any personal info.
Just showed him my pic yesterday, as I don't keep my pic on my profile...

Am I right to be worried?

The second part of the message pushed me back a bit.
And I'm asking just to know that it's a normal question.

It's just general chat isn't it? Confused

AnyFucker · 02/11/2016 20:56

That sounds like a message meant for someone else

Inexperiencedchick · 02/11/2016 20:56

I'm fine if it's just a general chat.

OP posts:
Inexperiencedchick · 02/11/2016 20:57

For me it came across like I'm already his wife...

OP posts:
Muddlewitch · 02/11/2016 20:58

I think just general chat too, maybe trying to start a conversation?

ocelot7 · 02/11/2016 20:58

Perhaps he means if/when you are both home it will be possible to continue to chat? So nothing sinister!

peri89 · 02/11/2016 20:59

Just sounds like chit chat, a way to start a conversation. I really don't see anything sinister in it.

Inexperiencedchick · 02/11/2016 21:00

I just hope he is nice and not rude...

We started chatting lightly, and I'm okay with one text per day for now...

Don't want to rush into anything...

NarcsBegone · 02/11/2016 21:03

It's a perfectly normal question thing to talk about when getting to know someone I think. 'I'm on my way home at the moment, have you got home yet?' As in is your working day over (if it's relevant) and could possibly be followed up with 'what are you up to tonight? I'm meeting my mate for a beer blah blah blah'

Inexperiencedchick · 02/11/2016 21:04

I guess I panicked then...

OP posts:
madgingermunchkin · 02/11/2016 21:05

Take a deep breath, and stop looking for things that aren't there.

He's on his way home after a (presumably!) long and tiring day, and is searching for a way to make contact and start a conversation.

DearMrDilkington · 02/11/2016 21:06

I think its General chit chat.

It's like "I'm making dinner now, have you had dinner yet?".

FishyWishies · 02/11/2016 21:07

Sounds fine to me, what were you imagining?

AnyFucker · 02/11/2016 21:07

Are you sure you are ready for this dating lark ?

PoldarksBreeches · 02/11/2016 21:08

One text per day? And his was to ask if you're home yet? Slow down guys all that excitement isn't good for you!

DearMrDilkington · 02/11/2016 21:08

poldarks GrinGrin

clumsyduck · 02/11/2016 21:09

Also think general chit chat

Those saying meant for someone else /wife possibly if via text but if via the app then I'd doubt he's accidently message you on their a message meant for say his wife via a text iyswim

TealGiraffe · 02/11/2016 21:09

I would take it as 'are you free to chat' or general chit chat. I don't think it's anything sinistet

Inexperiencedchick · 02/11/2016 21:11

I got used to be single so much that I get stressed out when people ask some personal questions...

AF I thought I would give it a go... But OLD is really soul destroying...

And I did get advice here to seek old style way of meeting men. But it's difficult as I'm reserved and don't go out much...

Aww. DH used to text me that when we were first chatting before we met in person. He'd ask if I was home yet and how my day was and tell me funny stuff that happened to him, to make me smile.

It's nice. Enjoy it for what it is.

I'm confused by your one text a day, if he asks a question do you reply? Or do you save it for the next day? What's even the point in one text?
