Hi lazy just join in I did last week.

Friday is here! I'm throwing myself into housework and keeping busy. I have that weird feeling again. Think because I know it's weekend and that's when I normally go off on one.

LikeaHurricane · 12/08/2016 15:06

misscookie, really well done, I'm so happy for you. What a great feeling isn't it? Xx

glad2016 · 12/08/2016 22:38

Well done glad, you super star you Star Safe travels home.

RosieWithTheGoodHair · 13/08/2016 06:59

I've tried to do this so many times.

Is this thread just for casual drinkers or can those of us with 'problems' join in?

tattoosandteadresses · 13/08/2016 08:07

No Rosie, lots of us problem drinkers here with the aim to stop completely. Myself included. Welcome aboard :)

onewhitepillowleft · 13/08/2016 08:27

Hi Rosy

I think anyone who wants to stop realises they have a problem - whether it was full on physical dependence requiring a hospital detox, or two glasses of wine every night without fail that they really couldn't afford anymore.

I feel a lot in common with everyone who struggles on this thread - even if we drank very differently. I was an every single night sort of girl - never in the morning, never at work or before driving - but every night I would sink at least a bottle and a half of wine, perhaps more. Towards the end, before I stopped, I was buying spirits and having a shot or two after the wine. Slippery slope alert!

choc where are you and how are you doing?

lazysummer welcome!

x

chocoholic89 · 13/08/2016 08:49

one I'm here! Having cuddles in bed with my dc! Hungover free! Smile
feeling ok but bit anxious had words with dp so I would probably think oh well we'll sort it out with a glass. But no im not guna ride it out..x

onewhitepillowleft · 13/08/2016 08:52

choc I am so so so so pleased for you. I've been feeling very tempted myself the past couple of nights, but resisted because I was thinking of you and not wanting to let the side down.

I used to drink a lot to deal with anxiety too. But after a couple of months off, a lot of that general anxiety is subsiding. It will get better.

AMAZING WORK, us. :)

chocoholic89 · 13/08/2016 09:25

one bless u. Yeah keep it up and well done. I just keep telling myself that having that drink won't sort whatever the problem is ur trying to escape from. It just makes it worse and then the next day it's crap because all the horrible feelings come back and anxiety is ten times worse. Keep up! X

onewhitepillowleft · 13/08/2016 09:33

You are so right. And today is a grim, rainy, miserable day but I am sober and prepared to enjoy it :)

efc1878 · 13/08/2016 11:42

Hi all,

Sorry I post and run, still here sober, been park run with kids this morning. Feel so much calmer being sober.

Hop everyone has a nice weekend x

StrongTeaHotShower · 13/08/2016 11:48

Hello, I've been directed this way from AIBU. Can I join please?
I'm not going to drink tonight and go from there.

glad2016 · 13/08/2016 11:57

And lazy summer welcome

StrongTeaHotShower · 13/08/2016 12:15

Thanks glad. First test coming up in an hour in the form of a street party. When I woke up in a state this morning scrubbing dried vomit off my dds potty my consolidation was that I could have a socially sanctioned drink by midday to take the edge off.

onewhitepillowleft · 13/08/2016 14:19

Strong Tea welcome. I am so glad you found your way here.

Just take it hour by hour if you have to. And if you have to lie and say you are on antibiotics, or driving, or whatever you like, just to get through the first few days and social events - then do that. I think that is a very forgivable white lie while you get your head straight.

Post LOADS here if you need to. (I do, as you will see - because it really helps me.

Today is your day 1! x

chocoholic89 · 13/08/2016 14:29

Hi one had a lazy morn and baked cakes with dc this aft Smile loads of sugar not wise for dc lol. Hope u are ok. Dp finish work soon so hoping he won't want dreaded drink if he does I'm guna suggest steak and dvd maybe 😉😉 to make friends! I'm guna stay strong!

StrongTeaHotShower · 13/08/2016 14:45

Thanks onewhitepillow I'm already making my excuses as I'm heading home for the weekend. The champagne will be flowing Sad

I'm at a street party at the moment and honestly don't want to touch a drop after reading the liver damage posts on my AIBU post. Didn't stop me playing the tombola and being sad I didn't win any booze Confused I did however win the most expensive non alcohol prize so I'm taking that as a sign! Do any of you know anyone who takes their infant children to AA? Dps doing nights so stuck for childcare.

lazysummer · 13/08/2016 15:08

One day in, and feeling very supported. Thanks for the welcome. Well done, efc, for doing park run. I have taken up running this summer, and park run is my goal (only half-way there at the moment).

tattoosandteadresses · 13/08/2016 16:58

So glad you've made it over to us StrongTea, I'm just after reading your thread. My drinking was pretty much about the same level as your own. No AA groups here are open for kids but I think there may be women's only groups in other places?

Welcome also lazysummer

Holiday is going well. Few pangs today when we stopped for lunch in a pub but the calories from a caramel frappe soon sorted that out.

I'm strangely quite enjoying being sober, the cravings are passing and I can handle them. Been able to get up fresh every morning and hit the swimming pool and the dc are having an absolute ball. We are sitting in an adventure playground place now in the afternoon and for a change their mum isn't wanting to get back to the apartment quick so she can open a drink. Makes me a bit sad to think I've prioritised boozing for them on many occasions but they are little and this is the best chance I have to take the right path and turn it around before they get any older.

So 7 days and still feeling positive Smile

StrongTeaHotShower · 13/08/2016 17:24

Thanks tatoosandteasresses (love the name BTW, very Shoreditch Wink)
I know exactly what you mean about being able to get up and enjoy the mornings with dd. I'm focusing on tomorrow morning and an early trip to the park to try and get through the hell that will be tonight. I can't believe I only got to early afternoon before someone asked me why I wasn't drinking and tried to push a drink on me! This is going to be so hard.

chocoholic89 · 13/08/2016 18:02

strong well done! Iv not yet had to deal with that yet. Just looked at ur aibu just don't take aboard some of the negative remarks. Some people are judgey. Ur here and realised you Need to sort ur stuff out.

misscookie · 13/08/2016 20:00

Can one drink 0.5% beer? All of the AF beer in the supermarket is 0.5% - any idea if thats ok for abstainers?

chocoholic89 · 13/08/2016 20:33

Hope everyone's ok tonight...can hear my neighbours sat I'm garden clearly drinkin! I'm sat up drinking cherry coke and polished off a curry! Not normally my sat night but yeah I don't feel as if I'm missing out! X Smile
