Our lovely mouseface usually starts these threads but I've just noticed that the previous one is almost full, so I'm facing technology and get the next one set up.

Anyone, absolutely anyone, who feels they have a problem with drink is welcome here. Whether you're trying to stop, or cut down a little, whether you've been sober for years, or even if you're too scared even to contemplate what is happening. If you think it will help you to post, or lurk, then please do.

There's often a lot of nonsense and banter, but lots of good sound advice.

And there is always lots of support and care and no judgement.

This is the link to the previous thread, if you want to read what's been going on so far The Previous Thread

Pa we once went camping near Loch Lomond.. It pissed it down with rain. So we went to a hotel. I then proceeded to watch a very scary film, as I remember something to do worth death by ice pick.

That'd being said, that was one of the best memories of my dad...

Rarity75 · 27/04/2016 20:34

Oh dear, I'm sorry to hear that. Is your job at risk or is it something else?

Rarity75 · 27/04/2016 20:37

Obviously avoid Scotland in rainy season (9 months of year) and midge season (3 month of year)!!
Lol love Scotland really Wink

My nan loved horror movies, I remember one with a clown and a bottle of shampoo with acid in. Crapped myself I was about 8. Can remember her saying "but it isn't real". Didn't sleep that night much, not fond of clowns now Hmm

Rarity75 · 27/04/2016 20:40

To clarify was using a metaphor didn't literally crap myself!

laladidah · 27/04/2016 20:41

No, my job is not as risk but they are really really really taking the piss now without outing myself, I am thoroughly pissed off about tie fact that I am £3,900 down for a pay rise, even though I am doing literally 109000000 the work. Being bossed around by a 24 year old .

laladidah · 27/04/2016 20:42

rarity was II IT?

Rarity75 · 27/04/2016 20:45

Yes it was!!!

I work in the public sector, doing way more than job description on same wage as last seven years but double the job. I know the feeling Sad

babyjane1 · 27/04/2016 21:01

ma so pleased for you babe. Once they meet you it's in the bag, I'm sure of it xxx

obrigada · 27/04/2016 21:05

Brilliant news Ma, fingers and toes crossed for you Smile

WillAndDisgrace · 27/04/2016 21:09

Grin at rarity patiently watching the news for dangling parents !

laladidah · 27/04/2016 21:21

ma well done! Rest of the babes, I am eating dinner, then going to bed with a glass of wine. Mini Lala is an absolute demon, cleaning out the packaging from my dinner. Not looking forward to the after effects tomorrow. Already chased a fox off before she could go outside. I am a wimp and I don't want to go out because I am scared of foxes... Sad

laladidah · 27/04/2016 21:24

rarity IT is probably the most horrendously stupid yet terrifying film I have ever seen.

Rarity75 · 27/04/2016 21:26

ma missed your post but read back. Good news!

I'm not far from bed myself. Hope you wake to a poo free kitchen lala

Fairenuff · 27/04/2016 21:29

Rarity you can still get the money he owes you off him. He has another £6000 in his pocket doesn't he? Just write up an invoice for rent and any money he's borrowed and give it to him. If he won't pay you, bin him as he's just using you.

ma that's really exciting news! About time we had something to celebrate on this bus. There hasn't been a party since spanna's soberversary and I think we're due another one. Strictly AF of course Smile

Rarity75 · 27/04/2016 21:38

Good idea fair he has promised to pay off my car (£800) and buy me a new Hoover Hmm. Not enough me thinks. All decisions off though until after holiday. As much as I wouldn't have chosen to go.... Don't want to turn down a holiday either. That's bad isn't it? Confused

Fairenuff · 27/04/2016 21:44

Tell him to just pay what he owes you and his share of the rent and you will buy yourself a hoover. If he wants to treat you to a holiday, that's his business but it's not coming out of the money he owes you. Tell him before the holiday though so that if he refuses you can tell him to go on his own and don't come back!

madein1995 · 27/04/2016 21:50

Hi everyone, sorry for disappearing yet again! I'm ok now, I did go off the rails for around 3 days but the crap feeling the next morning is enough to put me off drinking for the mo. The other night I fell asleep with my window wide open (bottom floor) while eating m and m's (which slid down the side of the bed) and with my phone on 1% battery. I took a friend to a and e the other evening and was worrying the nurse would smell the vodka on breath. I felt really disgusted myself.

Since then I've stayed off the booze and think I'll be ok to get over this recent relapse. Me and my mum have had a huge argument and normally I'd turn to drink but it feels so good to stay in control and not drink. Am currently singing along to the cheesy hits playlist on Spotify then will watch dvds

Morning babes, rascals don't feel like an imposter - jump right in and post away. It's a very friendly bus.

elba how was your evening with your friend? I expect her children may have got you up already (if they're anything like mine!)

I had a dreadful night, got some sort of bug so was up shivering and sweating from 1 til gone 4. Punishment for my awesome night the night before I guess!! Hoping to catch up on my sleep when my DD has a nap later....don't now what I'll do when she stops napping!

will hope you are ok this morning. Dust yourself off, it's another day Flowers

Everyone else hope you are feeling ok too!

Elba84 · 28/04/2016 09:02

Morning all. I got asked to be a godmother last night so Im writing this with my gorgeous little godson cuddled up in one arm. He's had a rough start and is five weeks old, but wasn't actually due until next week and is still only about 5 pounds. He's doing much better though and is so cute!

claret sorry about your rough night, hope your feeling a bit better this morning. I agree it was punishment for the night before Wink I volunteered to help whenever my friend got up so got handed a toddler at 5.45!

Did my usual thing of sneaking in wine to have after everyone's in bed, friend commented about me not drinking much these days Blush as pre kids I would of brought a couple of bottles to 'share' or suggested we meet in the pub. So sneaky and secretive.

will and lala hope your feeling ok today.

rascal welcome!

WillAndDisgrace · 28/04/2016 09:38

Morning all! Feeling good here, I fell asleep before DH came home, he said he got in at midnight!!!

elba congrats on becoming a godmother!

claret hope you're feeling better today and manage to get some rest.

Today is a shiny new day claret and it will be a AF one for me
:)

Need to have a proper read back to see what you've all been up to

I could definitely do with a guerrilla type friend like yours Isinde Grin, too many people just tell you what you want to hear, a friend like that would be refreshing - and would give you the proverbial kick up the backside when needed.

Yes isinde we've been introduced to Barrie who is still in the tank in the boot (next to the horrible doll i believe??) he's smacked a few people round the head recently Grin

Aw elba that's lovely news. And just shows how much your friend thinks of you. Hope you enjoyed the baby snuggles, sounds like a wee one indeed - mine was 6lb and blew me away with how diddy she was.

Day 3 here and have already had a few twinges, but I'm determined to fight through it. Not had a drink on a Thursday this month so intend to end it that way too. My wine saving calculator app (which is set to quite a modest level, I expect I was spending way more) has me at saving £100 so far this month on wine. Not too shabby.
